Wii Fit is still the master

pocketaces115181d ago

Have you tried the other products. Wii Fit is my least favourite I have never been able to work hard enough to get a sweat. Every time I do an EA Active work out I'm dripping after. This half a$$ed review if you want to call it that was not researched at all as far as I'm concerned

Tuxmask555181d ago

I've got that Wii version of Get Fit with Mel B on preorder. It's not on this list, but I'm hoping it's still good.

IIXIII5181d ago

I have that on PS3 and I was really surprised that it wasn't on that list. It's quite good and with many options of training.

pocketaces115181d ago

I don't think this guys actually did anything except a google search and copy and passed the photo's. This article is useless.

Video Games Can Make You Happy and Improve Mental Health

I have thought a lot about my mental health over the last few years and I believe that I’m less stressed and happier, because I play video games.  I’ve always wondered why video games generate such a strong emotion in me and how this affects my mental health...

I like games. They make me happy overall and can wipe a frustrating day at work away. Even a badass boss fight or tough level in a game is good because eventually i will persevere and make the challenge i overcame even sweeter.

Rebel_Scum1914d ago

Yeah but they can also make you irritable and quick tempered. Im speaking of those who play MP particularly.

RescueFlare1914d ago (Edited 1914d ago )

I too have been quick tempered when it comes to games like FIFA or Madden. Although that can also be seen as an acceptable outlet to release anger and stress.

Rebel_Scum1914d ago

Yeah its not so much during a game I was commenting more on peoples behaviour once they walk away.

TargusX1914d ago

Gaming for past 20 odd years - can totally agree with this. Needs more publicity!

Dragonopolis1914d ago

The way games are geared in modern games... now seems more towards fun and keeping the player occupied instead of entertaining with problem solving and creativity.... A good non gaming example of the two ..... I workout because I like to workout and have fun working out. Working out is very engaging and is hard work and very rewarding..... "BUT" it is not entertainment. I play volleyball and racquetball on occasions purely for enjoyment and while the friends I play make me work hard to attempt to win. The fun and enjoyment I receive when playing a game with my friends is different than my workouts at the gym.

This work leads to many things in gaming that eventually frustrates all of us at some point in a game...... Too many to list from bad level design choices by developers to glitches that developers did not find (or chosen not to patch at launch).....

Then add in our own stressful lives on top of that its like a powder keg ready to explode..... Game Developers are lighting the match when they should be putting the flame out.....

To many people I know talk about the controllers they've busted..... rage quit..... busted keyboards and mice.... its not that serious really peoples chill....

Its just a game...... Its supposed to make you happy....

Probably a lot of evidence over the years to prove just the opposite or we wouldn't have all those negative gaming terms...

RescueFlare1913d ago

You are correct in stating that negative gaming terms a mostly derived from anger and frustration but I would argue that these are more towards the positive outlet of anger and frustration that leads to better stress and anger management. There are much worse ways of taking out your frustration than rage quitting or hell even breaking a controller.... it could've been someone's face that got broken lol

How gaming affects a person's behavior and health

With the recent release of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V, the media has been ripe with articles and interviews saying that it has in some way or fashion led to this violent crime or that horrible thing. While gamers as a whole are quick to vehemently defend themselves on this issues and raise concerns with the faulty logic being used in these arguments, all of this discussion does beg the question: does gaming have the potential to affect a person’s health and behavior, either mentally or physically?

My girlfriend hate that I play Dota 2.. Loosing a couple of games really get the bad mood out..

Lexanth4206d ago

Hardcore gamers tend to have the habit of being too attached to the game that they lose their temper most of the time because of losing too much..

DestinyHeroDoomlord4206d ago

It's really easy to become highly irritable when things go wrong in game'ville

GuyThatPlaysGames4206d ago

When GTA5 first released, I played it about 2 days straight to the point to where I was actually sick due to sleep deprivation and not eating right and just snacking.

DestinyHeroDoomlord4206d ago

I hope your not about to blame the game...

dcj05244206d ago

You need help lol. Get some therapy, that's not a normal thing.

GuyThatPlaysGames4206d ago

Haha. The game was addicting!!!! lol. But it only happens with only GTA or CoD games.

_QQ_4206d ago

Just don't lose then, Works for me ;)

GentlemenRUs4206d ago

You'd be supprised!

It don't... Its the MENTAL HEALTH of the PERSON PLAYING the GAME, I wish people would understand this...

awesomeabe19984206d ago

Games dont affect anything in anyone. If he gets mad after losibg that means he is either competitive or a loser. If he shoits up an area or kills himself he would already have that problem fro before.

Hufandpuf4206d ago

So what does it mean if I enjoy a game? Am I not being affected in any way?

awesomeabe19984206d ago

Im talking about reasobs that affect badly. But if someone enjoys it he or she become healthier.

BOWZER354206d ago (Edited 4206d ago )

I just skimmed the article, but video games are healthy for the mind, and body, by releasing hormones that relieve stress and other things. Unless it turns into an addiction, that's a personal problem. As far as negative behavior, keep it in the game and we are all good.

rextraordinaire4206d ago

... What's all that talk about gaining weight?

It's as if having some fat was absolutely bad and would certainly lead someone to be less happy / healthy... Like : Society makes fun of stocky persons, therefore for your happiness you should conform to what society wants. Way to solve a problem, genius! (It mostly pisses me off because I find people to be much more attractive when they are round. Just my personal taste here...)

That part reads like a girl fashion/gossip magazine...

Anyway. Just wanted to point at that part.

DestinyHeroDoomlord4206d ago

Actually. .. fat people are less happy and less healthy
Peer pressure/"society", are the worst thing that can happen to anybody

rextraordinaire4206d ago

I know a whole lot of fat persons that are pretty much happy and healthy.

AgentSmithPS44206d ago

My friend is diabetic and overweight and his gaming ability has gone down because of how it's effected his fingers, sight, energy level, etc.

Even a few pounds of extra weight can create a lot more wear on your joints, it can make estrogen, etc.
It's time for you to watch Doctor Oz ;).

I like my women well rounded in the right areas but not all over.

I hope you learn about all the risks so you can make an educated choice. The human body is like a machine, if you use bad fuel or overload it etc it wears out faster.

I support the right of people to do what they want of course but just make sure you're willing to pay the price(s) first. You probably won't believe it but self hypnosis can help with many things.

rextraordinaire4206d ago (Edited 4206d ago )

What? Haha I was not talking about me, for christ sake I had to eat like an ogre for years to finally reach a healthy weight for my height. And I'm 30.

And I'm not talking about extreme cases of obesity or wight problems. I wish that for nobody, but the article makes it sound as if being a bit stocky is bad and that everyone will ridicule you. That's, in my opinion, a pretty poor argument against video games.
