WTMG's Thomas Medina: "As far as I’m concerned, console MMOs have always been in a weird place. PC is where the main game is most popular. MMOs were born there, work best there, and have the vast majority of titles. Mobile is then next in line, with touchscreens and portability that adds something new while functioning well. Console gaming, on the other hand, is not portable (for the most part). Plus, it uses a controller, which is not the best instrument when your control scheme requires a thousand buttons and a cursor. That being said, there is an audience, and where there’s money to be made, publishers find a way. So here we are with some of the biggest console MMO games and how I feel they handled 2021. "
From Xfire: "A lot of video games are designed to make players feel like a superhero. However, very few actually feature superheroes or have players take on the role of a superhero. What makes this even worse is that there are even fewer superhero video games that can be considered good."
Oh my. The irony in a one-trick pony using the 'repetitive' word lol. It's 2011 Yahtzee. Feel free to stop dialing it in and just hang up the phone. lol
Lame argument. Superheroes don't go to pilot school lol. You think Green Lantern took the taxi to Oa for the first time or that Thor was the prince of lightning before he was the god of thunder?
IF you want to be a flier, if, you can upgrade your abilities later to go faster, do divebombs, make quick escapes etc. There's lots of accomplishments to be had. This is about fun, not endless grinding.
Environments aren't lacking either. You go from the moon to Atlantis and everywhere in between Gotham and Metropolis. Interiors on everything from Star Labs and Oolong Island to the Daily Planet and Arkham Asylum. Sewers, schools, museums, hospitals, government offices, parks, dams, prisons, gardens, hideouts, factories, lighthouses, laboratories, nightclubs, cop stations, amusement parks, even hell. But you'd have to play for more than the tutorial and one level 5 alert to know that.
Yahtzee's just being lazy, like his shots at the Scarecrow fear gas. Over a hundred powers/skills and he decides to go looking in the "iconic powers" tree of all places which is solely there for players to pick...you guessed it...iconic powers from their favorite heroes. Like a Green Lantern light shield if they want to be a Lantern themselves, or heat vision. Optional. It's nonsensical to critique that. That's my critique. He isn't even trying anymore.
I know what you mean. It is hard sometimes to tell if these things are really bothering him or he is exaggerating. He makes good points but he behaves like a hating drama queen at the same time. That is why I don't use his reviews as a basis for buying a game. His reviews are strictly for entertainment purposes only.
