"The original Cubixx was one of the first minis to emerge onto the scene, as a 3D puzzler similar to what would happen if Qix discovered the third dimension. Now, Laughing Jackal has released the first screenshots and info on Cubixx HD, and the game looks very promising indeed."
Years ago, Qix was a neat puzzle game. You were on a 2D level where you had to cut out the environment while avoiding enemies. Then, years later Cubixx was released as a PSP Mini, a title that could be played on both the PSP and PS3. Cubixx was so successful that the developers were able to remake the title on the PS3 as Cubixx HD. Now, the title has been ported to Steam and it mostly holds up, but players may find the release somewhat unneeded.
A PS3 remaster of a PSP Mini makes its way to Steam with surprisingly few changes. However, whether or not that is a bad thing remains to be seen.
Defunct Games reviews Cubixx HD, out this week on Steam. This is a fun update to the Taito arcade classic Qix. Originally released on PSP in 2010, Cubixx HD finally brings the fun to Steam.
the only thing I don't like about things like this, given that the game is already a mini, is the sense of double dipping. That this is proabbly going to be a $10-$15 game with no real changes in gameplay from its $5 version.
Cubixx is one of the best Minis out there and a nice piece of graphics to boot. I hope Cubixx HD is just as awesome and more objective based than 'high scores'.
I would certainly consider this and I did as soon as I heard about the port/remake late last year.
