Overall Test Drive Unlimited 2 is a very fun and incredibly rewarding title. The game features an massive amount of content and could potentially keep you busy for months and months. In addition to this if you also choose to play online and have plenty of friends who also play then TDU2 is likely going to keep you coming back for the next couple of years. We would also expect that the developers will be supporting it with plenty of downloadable content over the coming months. The game is accessible enough for casual racing fans but really is a car fanatics dream. If you enjoy driving and racing cars then TDU2 is highly recommended.
Richard writes: "The series may have a cult following, but ten years on Test Drive Unlimited 2 still upsets me. It was one of my most anticipated games ever, with a concept years ahead of what Forza Horizon could achieve. But it remains one of the buggiest launches of a game I can remember, completely tarnishing my memory of it."
DSOGaming writes: "TDU World is an Online Server and Mod Pack Project for Test Drive Unlimited 2 that is currently available for download."
Such an underrated game, the only problem I had with it was the car physics on anything more powerful the a Golf GTI. But to me this was the original Forza Horizon
Game Informer - It's hard to imagine what to do in a car game except race other cars, and yet with Test Drive Unlimited 2, developer Eden Games found a way to expand the genre's horizons enough to offer an experience that's slightly different from your average racer. Eden's ambition came with a cost, but Test Drive Unlimited 2 is a game that I remember fondly and appreciate for the chances it takes.
This game gets a bad rap, but I enjoy it still. The idea was great, I think that if the devs were just better supported it could have been something truly epic.
Would love to see something like this again, especially on a next gen console.
Dear gameinformer,
look up the fucking definition of cult classic,
sincerely,
anyone who knows what "cult" or "classic" means.
After completing the 43 minute race around Ibiza in my blue Subaru, I can officially say I Iove this game.
5 out of 5? Really? This game is fun and all but go try and join/start a club. Server not available. Try and invite a friend. Takes at least three attempts. Try to stay linked when loading into a house, store, or the casino. Fail. This game has issues and the menus are the worst I have ever seen. To much micro managing and hardly any is explained in the instruction book. And where the hell are the Lamborghinis and why only two American cars? O yeah... dlc. And since when do automatic transmissions start in neutral!!!? Fail again. Sometimes you spend 4-6 seconds trying to get out of neutral while revving the engine.
Menu is very clunky.Driving is mediocre. But great concept and can be great if servers are up to the mark.IMO its a 7.5 to 8 game if compared to other racers.
Appreciate the comments.
The problem when you only have a rating out of 5 to work with is that scoring a 4/5 gives a max of 80%. 5/5 doesn't mean its perfect and if you read the review you will see I've mentioned stuff that I didn't like and problems I found.
For me it's definitely higher than 80%.. more of a high 80's mark so it gets a 5/5 from me.
