The game itself is set in a cookie-cutter fantasy realm, complete with orcs, goblins, trolls and of course, wizards. The developers themselves have cited that the main inspiration for the setting of the game is a single scene in ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ namely when the fellowship battle a horde of goblins, complete with hulking trolls, in Moria.
