i thought it was way scarier than dead space 2, which is mostly cheap thrills.

amnesia is full of terrifying moments that makes you just want to TURN IT OFF because it's so tense

I did turn it off a couple of times on that damn water level.
There was also one particular cupboard I spent five or so minutes hiding in, to scared to emerge.

Didn't get round to buying Dead Space 2, their "mums hate" thing put me off the brand right at the critical time. I'm sure it's a great game but I've got plenty of great games already bought, and waiting to be played.

This is why I don't buy games for PC too many variables. I rather just start playing without having to mess with my computer settings that may affect other applications.
