Is Electronic Arts Really Not Making Games For The Next PSP?

There was one glaring omission from the list of developers working on games for Sony's powerful new portable, the NGP.

While the list included developers big and small, from Tecmo Koei to Activision, publishing powerhouse Electronic Arts was nowhere to be seen. Why?

The story is too old to be commented.

I'm sure they will eventually.

I was wondering that same thing when I read through the list of publishers, but I think your right. They're probably waiting to see what happens with this next PSP. If it's successful they'll develop for it, if it get hacked and goes to shit like the first PSP then they wont.

Now that I think about it, I'm really concerned about the price of games for the NGP. Their probably going to cost as much as console games. Damn it!

@below: You know it will... You lucky bastard.

I was wondering the same thing as well, but don't they already have dev kits? My guess is they didn't have anything ready or they're waiting until GDC or E3 to show stuff.

Ooooooooooh GDC is in San Francisco, and I just moved here. Ooooooh I'm going, please let this be there.

C'mon guys, EA are the guys who said it was as powerful as the PS3 AND said it was already finished (existed), of course they are making games for it.

Take that Kotaku!!

The list probably simply include devs/publishers that already received NGP dev kits. EA will launch games on any platform around, they even do so for Zeebo, how could they ignore the potential sales of NGP? The so criticized PSP for it's security problems couldn't pass ignored with it's 60M user base.

"if it get hacked and goes to shit like the first PSP then they wont." - dude, this is EA, not Activision! I was quite surprised Activision is on board after their nonexistent support for the PSP! EA has never missed putting their games on the PSP. all their sports games and hell even Dante's Inferno is on the PSP!

even if not announced, I'm sure something's cooking at EA for the NGP!

BattleAxe2819d ago (Edited 2819d ago )

I could care less if EA makes any games for the NGP. They make some great games for the big systems, but I've never played a good PSP game made by EA.

Does no one read the articles anymore? EA states in the article that even they don't know why they weren't included in the list - implying that they are certainly developing for it. The article also links to EA's quote about having a PS3 in your pocket. So no, they weren't "KAPWNED".

i remember that someone from EA said that the PSP2(NGP) is very strong and that they have it in their hands

hahah sorry man, didn't see yours.

Parapraxis2819d ago

Jesus you have good timing.

golsilva2819d ago

its probably an oversight. ea was one of the first companies saying they had a psp2 in their possession. we will see more at gdc and e3 with their usual sports franchises and maybe a surprise here or there. out of all of ea games, which ones would you like to see whether as a sequel or remake?

OllieBoy2819d ago

Remember when we thought Portal 2 wasn't coming to PS3?

mushroomwig2819d ago

EA don't make games anyway because they're a publisher, not a developer.

Gran Touring2819d ago

EA owns many developing companies, and they make games under EA's decisions

mushroomwig2819d ago

Thanks for clearing that up. :]

Surfaced2819d ago (Edited 2819d ago )

This is true. Some of the better-known developers EA owns are

-BioWare (Mass Effect, Dragon Age)
-Visceral Games (Dead Space, Dante's Inferno)
-DICE (Battlefield, Mirror's Edge)
-Danger Close (Medal of Honor)
-Maxis (The Sims)

RememberThe3572819d ago (Edited 2819d ago )

The issue is that EA was not on the list of publishers that will support the new platform. Since publishers put out the games they're support is important.

Like Gran Touring said, they own a ton of developers. The whole EA sports label, Bioware, Dice, they have a lot to offer a system.

EA will just port them over from the PS3. They usually try to reach as many platforms as possible.

Masterchef20072819d ago

That isnt exactly a bad idea. Because from what i got from the demos it takes a weak to port a game from the PS3 to the NGP. Kojima just ported over MGS4 in like a week for the NGP
