Dead Space 2 for 360 is 2 discs, what’s the problem?

Rely on Horror: "We must admit, it’s kind of disappointing that EA couldn’t warn 360 users beforehand about Dead Space 2 being on 2 discs. Regardless, this doesn’t mean that 360 owners, or even multi-platform owners, should ignore the 360 version in favor for the PS3 version."

well, who wants to pop in another disc in the middle of gameplay.

anthraxCZ5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

well, you actually instal disc 1 to your hdd and then insert disc 2 - you play without swapping

so i think it is not a problem

guigsy5204d ago

I thought Microsoft didn't allow mandatory installs? If you don't have a HDD you're screwed.

r1sh125204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

Its not mandatory install (i think), but if you dont want to swap discs just install them both and leave disc 2 in the tray for verification..

3dawg5204d ago

are you sure about that? 360 gamers said the same thing about me2 and ff13 i tried that and its telling me to insert the correct disk!

-Superman-5204d ago

PS3

Dead Space 2 and dead space extraction = 1 blu ray

Xbox 360

Dead Space 2 = 2 DVD

2 game, 1 blu ray...
1 game, 2 dvd
lol

guigsy5204d ago

To be fair at least you don't see 360 complaining that "the developers are lazy" whenever there are issues like this, they just get on with it.

Blacktric5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

@anthraxCZ

It doesn't work like that. I always install my games on the 360's HDD and I did the same with Mass Effect 2. One of the first things I've tried was playing the game with second disc in the tray and it didn't recognized it when I tried to play the game. So, you have to have the proper disc in the tray while you're playing a game that uses multiple discs. But its not a big deal for me. If I like the 360, then I'll buy the game for it. I don't mind changing the disc halfway through the game.

plenty a tool5204d ago

lol i have a 360 and a ps3, and i will still be buying the 360 version!

anthraxcz: is this true, coz i have a big HDD, and i always install my discs. anyway fanturds, this is what castlevania did, and what the next gta will do.

Denethor_II5204d ago

"well, you actually instal disc 1 to your hdd and then insert disc 2 - you play without swapping

so i think it is not a problem"

But 360 owners don't like to install things, and have long complained about installation on PS3 games.

gamingdroid5204d ago

I don't mind the two discs at all, and it has added benefit that if you screw up a disc (never happens to me since I keep my games in pristine mint condition), you can install the game from a rented copy and as long as the game isn't so scratched it can't be verified it will still work.

However, the biggest benefit the Xbox 360 has right now is the fact that you can install the entire game onto your hard drive. Sure you have to have the disc in the console for verification, but you get the benefit of fastest load times and no optical disc drive wear.

You know, the part of the console that is likely to fail first is the mechanical moving parts!

Shepherd 2145204d ago

Correction. 360 owners like OPTIONAL installs, not mandatory ones.

On a side note, two discs means lots of content, so thats good news in my book.

Kurt Russell5204d ago

2 Disks is no big deal. I install all the games I am currently playing anyway just to cut down on all the noise the machine makes.

Still, it won't stop a few chumps making a mountain out of a mole hill though.

I know I sure as hell dont. And I wont ever have to, sucks for those who have to.

Jazz41085204d ago

You guys really think 360 buyers care if they have to take 5 seconds to change a disc? What we were saying about installs on the ps3 is they take forever upwards of 15 to 20 min plus weekly security downloads. Big diffrence between 5 seonds and 15 min plus all you ps3 only guys should ne used to multiple discs from the ps2.

gamingdroid5204d ago

Yes, but the Xbox 360 is an optional installation!

You want to save on load times, enjoy the game as if it is one disc and reduce wear and tear on your optical drive, you can!

If you don't care, you don't have to sit through 15-20 minutes of installation and nor do you have to upgrade your hard drive (like I will probably have to do on my 40GB PS3 because many installations are mandatory and huge, like 10GB).

The only tangible benefit I see on the disc problem is that the Blu-Ray has a nice scratch resistant layer that is virtually unscratchable. Yes, I tried! ;)

jeeves865204d ago

@ Jazz

These are people that got pissed off because the console scratched their discs when they moved it. Honestly, I think swapping discs is just too much for some people.

meetajhu5204d ago

Here after xbots will get used to this! wakkakak

kazuma565204d ago

everybody knows developpers put disk swapping right in the middle of gameplay -_-

iPad5204d ago

who wants to pop in another disk to play the SAME game?

bumnut5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

Its not a big deal really, remember MGS4? you had to install each chapter you played and if you wanted to show a friend a cool level you had saved, you had to install it again, then install where you were up to to continue.

That takes longer than swapping a disc.

Also with a linear game like dead space, you will probably only have to swap it once.

I like my ps3 but hate the load/update times so ill probably get this on pc

@the guy who disagreed - im not sure which point you don't agree with, can you post a reply?

the_best_player5204d ago

Think if GTA4 was on 2 disks chaning on each island change lol.

No one likes changing disks for 1 game

Aloren5204d ago

The truth is most people don't care... I'm pretty sure most are not even aware this could be an issue. I mean, really, swapping a disk, wow, what a drawback... that's gotta take ... what ? 10 secs ? 30 ? It's not even worth playing anymore.

the_best_player5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

______________________________ ________________________
GTA

Drives to island bridge "please change disk" loaded, ah crap cops turns car round on island bridge "please change disk".

Time to check this other big island out "please change disk". ah I don't like this island drives back to other island "please change disk".

3 hours later hmm I should of got the blu ray PS3 version this disk changing is a pain.

Aloren5204d ago

Hmm... GTA.
Start the game and enjoy it for 20 hours.
Swap disk cause the second part of the story is on a second disk.
Enjoy the game for 20 additional hours.

That's just stupid to pretend they would force you to swap disks whenever you change island.

ImmortalLegend5203d ago

Even with 2 discs Dead Space 2 will still probably sell better on Xbox 360. I don't mean to sound like a fanboy, but damn, this truly isn't a big deal. This is only a problem for fatasses that can't get out of that imprint they made in their couch.

strongly disagree with that comment if you are a MULTICONSOLE owner ps3 is a no brainer not only does it come on ONE disc you also get dead space extraction as a bonus

if you only have a 360 then theres no problem enjoy the game

knowledge4lfe5204d ago

dont forget you dont have to pay to play the multiplayer. so yea. ps3 all the way

Jazz41085204d ago

I have both systems and I bought the 360 version because wvery game I get for the ps3 takkes forever to sit down and play its always something that has to be installed. With the 360 put disc in and play. I own both consoles and I game my excclusives on ps3 and multiplats on the 360. I have seen this enough and no fanboy will change my mind.

Okay so let me get this straight you guys are buying this game on the 360 because of an install on PS3? Even though the PS3 version DOESN'T have any installing for Dead Space 2 at all?! There's only a game save for the game, absolutely NO install at all. Wow, that's all I'm going to say about that.

Strikepackage Bravo5204d ago

Nope Jazz is right, PS3 has a bunch of updates everytime you turn the thing on is his point. You cant just turn it on and play like on 360. On PS3 its always some update that takes forever. Also online play on PS3 sucks, plus multiplat games tend to run and look better on 360.

Drekken5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

My car doesn't have power steering - What's the problem?

My TV doesn't do High Def - What's the problem?

My Sneakers don't have laces, only Velcro - Whats the problem?

My console has to use multiple discs because the maker used a legacy medium - What's the problem?

The answer to all is - Nothing if you don't mind being behind the times, or dumb(Velcro).

Kon5204d ago

No problem, you will just use one disc.

DingDangDoo5204d ago

Rather use 2 discs than play a port.

StoneyYoshi5204d ago (Edited 5204d ago )

funny you say that even though EA has been putting more developement towards the ps3 version and porting to the xbox. most games from EA are doing this now. but it is understandable that you do not know this stuff, you just go and try to troll about something you know nothing about.
that is why you see literally no difference between multiplatforms now for games from EA.

DingDangDoo5204d ago

lol.....

Like they do on fifa...

StoneyYoshi5204d ago

hmm well seeing as i said MORE development towards the ps3. i dont recall saying ALL.

good hustle though, i believe i am the victor on this part seeing as the one disagree i have is probably you.

itsralf5204d ago

PS3 was the lead platform for Dead Space 2...
So was the first Dead Space.

TheGameFoxJTV5204d ago

The first Dead Space was originally going to go to the Xbox 1, but it was canceled. So, I have no idea where you got that from.

itsralf5204d ago

Because EA-developed games use the PS3 as the lead platform, and Visceral is EA Redwood. I thought this was common knowledge.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel382d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel381d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia381d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda381d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long381d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto381d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long381d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic380d ago (Edited 380d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?

13 Years Later, Dead Space 2 Is Still A Perfect Video Game

Nameer from eXputer: "Dead Space 2 is a sequel that delivers such a feast that by the time you're done, you're not only full but also satisfied."

Aaroncls7401d ago

It was amazing. All 3 DS games game solid for me, but 2 was special.

hombreacabado401d ago

i can do without ds3 but the first two are solid.

mariopasta401d ago

Hope they remake this one too. Just like they did with number 1. The remake of Dead Space 1 was perfection

Terry_B401d ago

thanks to the digital pass for it it was not perfect..in fact its difficult to find a working copy since many years.

I was able to find games in the Vietnam dlc on ps3 the last week. There were articles on here about the server closure when it was announced in April

DaReapa504d ago

BF1943 is the only online MP game that I was genuinely interested in. Been playing since launch 14 years ago. Hate that I couldn't put in as much time to play as I'd hoped for during the final week.

Inverno503d ago

I got really into 43 when I bought Bf3, and preferred it. Everything that I disliked or found annoying about Bf3, wasn't an issue in 43. Too bad they never bothered releasing it on PS4 or PC.

1nsomniac503d ago (Edited 503d ago )

Dead Space 2...... I wasn't even aware that had multiplayer. Nevermind that it was apparently one of their best multiplayers!

anast503d ago

Once people stop buying micros, these companies close the doors.

Xenial503d ago

Dead Space 2 multiplayer had been hanging on for years - I'd boot my PS3 up to see some familiar names in lobbies. This will definitely be missed!
