Brink is going to set a new standard for shooters when it's released sometime 2011

Brink is one of this years most highly anticipated shooters. Made by some crazy English chaps that love to do what they do. Shoot up stuff. Brink is looking better and better as we seem to get closer to the elusive release date. Would you buy two copies for exclusive DLC? The Revolution Begins.

Every shooter says that.
Examples: MOH, COD, battlefield, Gears, bulletstorm, rage, etc.

but only one actually does it, and thats killzone. OH DID I HURT YOUR FEELINGS?

Mista T5259d ago (Edited 5259d ago )

no, your just a dumb ps3 fanboy

rjdofu5259d ago

A little bit, just realize how stupid some ps3 fanboy can be LOL.

"but only one actually does it, and thats killzone. OH DID I HURT YOUR FEELINGS?"

Blatant fanboyism

DarkFantasy5259d ago

and what standard did killzone set, plays just like a normal shooter to me every shooter this gen has been average, last shooter i played that set any standard was Half Life 2 ..sure KZ is a good shooter but i don't think it defines the shooter the fps category its just a damn good game .. im still waiting for a shooter to set the bar this gen none have yet so far but there geting better.

MysticStrummer5259d ago

Killzone is like all the rest. The sooner people understand that and stop buying the Killzones, Halos, and CoDs of this world, the sooner we'll get better games. Brink looks like it does something different, which unfortunately means it has an uphill battle to win over the masses. Give me MAG for pure multiplayer action, Bioshock for single player, and Borderlands for co-op. Brink and Portal 2 are way more interesting to me than Killzone 3.

Downtown boogey5259d ago

Not every shooter is touted to set new standards, no.
Killzone hasn't set any new standards (except graphics wise).

Words don't mean much.

FrankMcSpank5259d ago

Brink is taking:

Killzone's dynamic FPS cover system
Mirror's Edge's platforming AKA the SMART system
Borderland's Online/Offline intergration.

And adding much more, taking in all these styles and making them more dynamic toa shooter designed for continous gaming whether it be online or offline, splitscreen or not. I am looking forward to it. Something different, is always welcomed. Just becuase it's a FPS doesn't make it a fail. Bioshock and Mertoid Prime have proven that first person view is just another way to look at the world. It's crap like COD that is holding the genre back.

Perjoss5259d ago

"Killzone's dynamic FPS cover system"

you mean just like the one in Rainbow 6 Vegas?

ThanatosDMC5259d ago (Edited 5259d ago )

I'd take MAG over KZ or Brink for that matter.

hoops5259d ago

Actually Killzone is like every other shooter. Tell us what makes Killzone different from all the other FPS games?
The only shooter games to almost reinvent the wheel was Half Life. System Shock and Dues X.

Brink's development (and the preview snippets) seems to suggest that there is some promise behind that.

sobekflakmonkey5259d ago

although i agree, Brink actually does look awesome, i just wish they would bump the release date up, but hey at least we can expect that they are putting a great level of polish on the game, that to be honest has been missing from most games lately.

Lord_Doggington5259d ago

op is right. every game says that. and everyone says that about every game. BEFORE it's released.

The timing of the modern fps is an art that I think very few shooter do well. As much as I know COD is buggy, etc, the timing/feel of the game makes it the most popular fps.

The same goes w/ Halo in its own way. And Killzone in its own way.

Until I read about Brink having a comparable control response, I'll reserve my praise...

LA-Times report MW3 will launch in november we will see. with some AAA titles already confirmed for november 2011 we will see who will chicken out and delay their game with the fear of not selling

uncharted 2 and borderlands launch around/against COD and did pretty well i would think if your game is good enough it will sell. and with 3 different studios working on MW3 expect a MOH kind of experience SP will feel different than MP and both won't be great

I think starting this year we will see the downfall for COD i am calling it today

Ghost Recon Future Soldier....10-1-2011

Batman: Arkham City....10-3-2011

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception ....11-1-2011

Binary Domain....11-1-2011

Aliens: Colonial Marines....11-11-2011

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim....11-11-2011

Mass effect 3

these are the 6 games launching around COD we will see

and rage and resistance 3 are suppose to be due in september according to GS. i think this will be the first time COD will have to fight for its money and i will be rooting for every one of those games COD needs to die or slow down atleast it can not be madden of FPS

and if it sells a lot than i will have no faith in gamers/gaming but to most real gamers like me we will have other things to enjoy

ReservoirDog3165259d ago

This actually looks like it will be though.

I'm looking forward to it anyways.

Hopefully the SMART system ends up being up being as good as it looks.

OrganicMachine5259d ago

well the smart system is the same as the vertical gameplay that uncharted offers, except this time, in Brink it's in first person perspective.
