Engadget: It's nothing that runs counter to the ongoing whispers we've heard so far, but according to Bloomberg and its pair of sources, Sony Computer Entertainment's Tokyo event on January 27th is indeed the platform from which it'll unveil the next PSP, and next month at Mobile World Congress will be where we finally meet -- officially, that is -- the PlayStation Phone.
Tech savvy readers are well aware of the Sony Ericcson device and it's been a slow push getting the desirability to market mainly due to lack of content and games that would make it useful. Some folks have mentioned that having to re-purchase a PS1 title just to play it again on your phone doesn't seem fair. That's all about to change, at least for one hacker.
It kinda needed it. Sony should just get smart and release an emulator with free roms anyway. Or cheaper to buy roms, like $.50 each.

It's no coincidence that Sony is holding an event so close to Nintendo's 3DS unveiling. That leads me to believe Sony might be confident in showing off the PSP2 at this stage of the game. Also, with the PSP2 being so wrapped in secrecy compared to the leaks for the 3DS, seeing any news about it will be more shocking than the 3DS unveiling.
