Sonic 2 HD is an unofficial HD reworking of the classic SEGA Genesis title, Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Of course, the name of the project more or less gives that away, but it's no less exciting.
Well at least we don't have to buy each Episode.... Hoesntly Sega should of took their time with Sonic 4 and released it as a Retail game.
... cause I felt they seriously fucked up the gameplay that made Sonic 1 and 2 so great. I played the fanmade Sonic Remix demo (3 levels of sheer awesomeness), and I'd happily spend 50-60 bucks on a full game of that quality though. Not sure what to expect from Sonic 2 HD, and I really hope it can approach the quality of Sonic Remix, but I'm sure it will at least be better than anything Sega has given us, Sonic-related, in the last 10-15 years.
It seems that fan made games will become better that the official retail games...A good example are some Doujin games that have the quality of official released games or better...
What would be nice is a HD remake of Sonic CD and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Those 2 were easily the best 2D Sonic games.
sega should hire these guys lol
Sega seems to be grabbing at anything really. Like an indecisive child at a toy's store. Unfortunately, they seem to no longer care for the affections of their dedicated fans, as I thought they had when they spoke about sonic 4 episode 1 being a complete departure from other sonic games, and one that "returns to it's roots". They've fooled me into thinking that such loud statements meant that they'd give back to those who've stuck with them since the beginning, and in reality, realized "oh, jeez...they liked our 2D GAMES! golly! Bob, Phil, Tetsuo put something together over the weekend, it's 2d so it should be a piece of cake! that way we can sell our product as if it's some blast from the past, pure nostalgia joy!" if they make this 2d, don't screw around with the way sonic moves, part of what made sonic look badass was the fact that the running sprite was being shown at an extremely fast speed. Don't throw in three hundred frames, it's not Uncharted: Sonic edition. hell, if they take their time, it will pay off. that's what I say to most developers. Hype unfortunately has caused many developers to giggle and wiggle in their chairs, so hopefully they address this remastered version as something that WILL STAY, and not something that will die out weeks after it's released. that's part of the reason why the old sonics are the best sonics.
Or perhaps Sonic Team is sick and tired of their unpleasable fanbase, I know I am.
I'm not "unpleasable". It's just a shock to know that in order to get into our hearts, they actually need to change the formula VERY LITTLE. To keep relevant with the ever changing form of games, and the design of games, they feel obligated to throw in boatloads of unnecessary features, not to mention, questionable design choices, to cater to the masses, which unfortunately, get lost in translation.
the music should stay the same of course :)
I hope this countdown clock on the site is for a trailer that will tell us the remake is done and coming out soon.
