Microsoft hires ‘content coach’ for Ballmer’s CES keynote

Microsoft has brought in a “creative content coach” in preparation for Steve Ballmer’s big CES keynote on January 5.

Chet Logothestian, a self confessed content coach, has been hired by the software giant to help Steve Ballmer make the most of his CES keynote next week. Ballmer is expected to unveil a number of new Windows based Slate devices including a future device that runs on a new version of Windows that supports ARM chips. Logothestian is due to meet with Ballmer tomorrow to “coach” the less than shy CEO.

I don't get how this is Microsoft's Kevin Butler...

charles20295012d ago

Hint: He's not a real person, like Kevin Butler.

Wenis5012d ago

So essentially every actor in a Microsoft commercial could be considered Microsoft's Kevin Butler. gotcha.

RedDragan5012d ago

Actually Charles, Chet is a real person. And he is just a creative consultant.

Nothing like Kevin Butler or the actor who plays him.

Chet should stick to music, and even in that field probably not... he works with Miley Cyrus lololol....

MAJ0R5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

sooo is this guy like a comedian or funny at all? cuz I remember Kevin Butler or Jerry Lambert stared in other really funny commercials before he became VP

stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watc...

ChronoJoe5012d ago

Kevin's actually a funny guy generally, someone mentioned he's been in past adds but he's also in Everybody Loves Raymond, plays a decent part.

Here's one he's in http://www.youtube.com/watc...

He's in quite a few episodes, but only briefly, he always plays one of the parents.

read the article, this guy has just been hired to coach a microsoft representitive, for better delivery of the CES presentation.

It's not microsofts kevin butler rip off..

AndrewRyan5011d ago (Edited 5011d ago )

^ This man is a genius! He took time to look through the actual article! GENIUS!

But in all seriousness guys, this is a rep for Microsoft for the upcoming CES. They hire reps to make the presentation more appealing. Would you rather have a short fat nerd with a speech impediment talk to you about engineering babble or have a trusty looking older man with a nice voice explain in normal words why the product is perfect for you.

xtremexx5012d ago

you cant just get clone Kevin Butler

FunAndGun5012d ago

If you can't buy him, clone him.

RedDevils5011d ago

Clone him and sell him to make a profit, great Business for Sony :D

Scary695012d ago

No one can never top Kevin Butler not even MS.

8thnightvolley5011d ago (Edited 5011d ago )

this is not a kevin bulter like guy.. this site is looking for hits.. this just just helps spokes men.. thats all..

besides MS doesnt need a kevin bulter.. they are on a roll already without one.

I actually found an old Xbox 360 Console Manual. On a page briefly describing what Achievements are, they say that Achievements are "in-game Trophies."

It's funny how you state fact and get so many disagrees.

MrBeatdown5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

People wanted trophies. Nobody wanted a Kevin Butler knock-off.

We all want to see good ideas borrowed/copied/stolen and every console has its fair share of stolen ideas, so it's pretty stupid to turn it into some fanboy argument about console features as if you're going to somehow get one up on him when we're talking about something unrelated.

FrankMcSpank5012d ago

If it's a rep for MS he'll probably be another douchebag. I though Kudo took the cake, but I am curious to see this fellow.

TheMART5012d ago

XBL... PSN

Wiimote... Move

Nunchuck... Move sub/Navigator

Achievements... Trophies

XBOX 1 had a HDD... Playstation gets HDD

So yah, copy cats!

We'll see if this guy is funny or not, I could care less. More interested if MS is going to unveil some new games besides the obvious sequels for Gears and Forza. Thats what should matter if you're interested in them games!

Ok. MS copied Sony and Nintendo by getting it the Home console market.

The Lazy One5011d ago

Not that M$ has never stolen anything because they obviously have, but bing is a horrible example.

Bing is just a re-branding of MSN Search/Live Search, which has been around since google started (both started in 1998). Yahoo was ahead of both, but they were all released during a time when there were more search engines than cards in a poker deck.

Thankfully that's a trend that stayed with the 360. I'd be insanely pissed if I had to pay to play online for my PC games.

Lol @ the disagrees this only further proves this is a sony fansite.

MrBeatdown5012d ago

@Masamori

Or maybe those disagreeing are just smart enough to figure out that a cinematic, story driven shooter with exploration elements isn't a clone of a mediocre exploration/puzzle game that barely has any shooting at all. Hell, it has as much in common with Gears of War (which wasn't even the first cover-based shooter) as it does Tomb Raider.

Every game out there is similar to other games. It doesn't make them clones.

HungryGoku5012d ago (Edited 5012d ago )

Logic makes there head explode they love labels clones and fanboys you get the picture. Just using one word is all they know how to say ha.

come back and make a comment once you've played tomb raider.

MrBeatdown5011d ago

@King Leonidas

That's the game I was thinking of.

@The Lazy One

I have played Tomb Raider. I finished Underworld. Twice. Which part are you trying to argue? That it's mediocre? That gameplay mainly consists of exploration and puzzles, or that it has hardly any shooting? Actually, it doesn't really matter which one, because I'm right on all counts.

Report: Microsoft Cutting 650 More Jobs From Gaming Division Per Phil Spencer's Letter to Employees

Phil Spencer has sent a letter out to employees informing them that 650 jobs would be cut from Microsoft's gaming division.

VenomUK7d ago (Edited 7d ago )

‘Good guy Phil’?

The truth likely is that the decision was not his to make and is possibly a direct consequence of cutting costs following the ABK deal.

DodoDojo7d ago

Would be nice if he'd mail one of those letters to himself.

RhinoGamer887d ago

Cut costs -> no bonus, stock options, raises for Phil and his leadership team.

Lightning777d ago

"Good guy Phil" is comical. You have to bleed green to see that. I'm only a matter of time until MS, that's right MS even in ages themselves from the industry.

I don’t remember Sony cutting over 1900 employees then Less than 7 months later get a leak for another 600 to be on the chopping board but hey let’s equate that to a few people not been happy about a mid gen system refresh price 🤦🏿.

Quit pivoting to Sony because you don't like the subject matter. Their game division isn't in the toilet.

Vastly approaching is a weird phrase… vastly is typically used to convey the degree of some size or length or time.

Vastly approaching makes no sense.

You mean rapidly approaching.

MrDead7d ago

A combined $80 billion spent on consolidating a massive part of the industry, thousands fired all to line the pockets of the already wealthy and turn the gaming industry into a rental service.

FU MS.

crazyCoconuts7d ago

MS is a publicly traded company. If you have a 401K you yourself might own MS stocks.
I'm definitely not a MS fan, but CEOs need to keep returns high to keep their jobs if nothing else. They don't get to transfer the salaries to their accounts.
I blame MS for failed strategies, poor execution, lack of vision, etc.
These layoffs are just the result of those things.

MrDead7d ago

That's the weakest excuse for a giant monopoly I've ever seen... also companies like MS are more likely to damage people's 401k through monopolistic practices.

Obscure_Observer7d ago

"FU MS."

I love how you act all enraged and bully when it´s MS firing people.

"It´s all about the workers" at least they´re Sony´s employees, right? If they´re Sony they can go f* themselves right? It´s all justified and the blame lies elsewhere on some widespread industry problem, right? Right?

We been seeing some of Sony recent bs moves and you know what´s coming, right?

I´m expecting you to disappear the same way you do every time Sony layoff hundreds of people or get a whole studio shut down.

You´ll do anything to avoid and hold them accountable. But that's OK. You´are not biased, right?

1Victor7d ago

@obscured: “ "It´s all about the workers" at least they´re Sony´s employees, right? If they´re Sony they can go f* themselves right? It´s all justified and the blame lies elsewhere on some widespread industry problem, right? Right?”

.
Well Sony didn’t overreached and spend over 80 BILLION$ to acquire mayor 3rd party game developers and one MAYOR publisher the owner of the BIGGEST FPS just hoping to keeping it exclusive to their system and now having to fire thousands of employees to valance their books one more quarter.
Now Microsoft is beginning and going to kiss Sony dark ring and publish their “first party games “ on PlayStation. Regardless of who it is it’s wrong to do an acquisition and then fire people.
I applaud Microsoft for at least giving them a severance package and assistance getting a new job 👍👍.

MrDead7d ago

Chill out kid... also why bring up Sony, have they just spent 80 billion to consolidate a massive part of the industry to the detriment of thousands of workers?

MS lines their pockets whilst firing thousands, such a shame you support this.

Looks good to me and I’m glad it’s coming to ps5

VenomUK11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

When it comes to video game previews I’m of the opinion that journalists should maintain a position of CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM. Yes, note and share concerns about the game with readers but maintain a restrained optimistic stance until actually having reviewed it so that any negativity is based on the game’s quality and not the author’s prejudices.

Here the author writes “ I’m going to continue to keep my cynicisms intact, less so because of my trust in MachineGames and more so due to the dumpster fire that continues to be modern-day Xbox.” This example illustrates the need to follow this guidance.

DefenderOfDoom211d ago

Not worried about facial animations , but I do hope the gameplay is fun . Most definitely I will purchase this on PS5, if the gameplay is fun .

BaughJaughs11d ago

nice hit piece. I notice the writer didn't mention any of the journalists / creators who had good things to say. From what i hear, it has riddick: escape from butcher bay in its DNA. To me that sounds like something to be Optimistic about rather than pessimistic.

ChasterMies11d ago

It’s odd to have a first person perspective for an adventure game with stealth and brawling. But’s not without precedent. Wolfenstein: New Order and Wolfenstein: New Colossus had a lot of adventure game elements. They were in the league of the greatest games ever, but they were both fun games. Indy looks fun too.

YourMommySpoils11d ago (Edited 11d ago )

Yes, Indy looks like Todd Howard. Something feels way too off.
