People that like multiplayer will like killzone and the people that are looking for single player and coop will like resistance. Killzone does seem like they improved a lot tho.

Anyways I play multiplayer on my PC and I suck at aiming with controllers on consoles. therefore I am more interested in resistance. getting both anyways.

I think you nailed it on the head. I like Killzone's single player, but the multiplayer is it's bread and butter.

And I like dabbing in Resistance's multiplayer, but the single player, co-op, and local multiplayer (from R1) was where I spent most of my time with this franchise.

They are two different beast, and both deserve their inevitable success.

I'll be getting both. I'm more interested in the Resistance story-line, particularly post-Nathan Hale, and the fact that it has a co-op campaign, but Killzone 3 is still going to be a good time.

wtf kz2 sp was so fing good. I know the story was not it's strong point, but the gameplay and enemy ai is what separates the killzone series from other shooters, it's pure brilliance. And the graphics off course is top notch.

I do not know about resistance 1 I have not played it, but resistance 2 is miles away from kz2 sp and mp. I am getting both though

Resistance 1 to many was better than Resistance 2. You should really go back and try it. It's aged ok, but the weapon wheel, co-op, and everything keeps it very entertaining. Call a friend over a play it together.

Resistance 1 was definitely better than R2. I liked KZ2's SP but not so much of the MP. I like both, but for the most part I prefer KZ's SP and Resistance MP.

I just had so much fun with KZ2's hit response system, so realistic and so satisfying. On the other hand, Resistance 1 kept me busy for a year on the MP, hunting down humans as Chimera with their rage just made me feel like Predator on steroids.

And the match-type where you start out as human then if you die you spawn as a Chimera, I forget the name of it, it's been too long...I may purchase Resistance again to hold me off...

I will also be purchasing both games. I am not sure if prefer one over the other. Some things you like for breakfast and other things are good for dinner. Both of the franchises are awesome IMO.

Killzone is more hardcore and Resistance is more casual. I played R:FOM more than any other FPS on the PS3. The fun factor on that game was through the roof (it also did not have much competition at the time of release).

For me, I just feel more in line to accept the surroundings given in Killzone because it is essentially WW2 given a lick of futurisitic paint. I love how the Helghast are like Nazi's as reports say (although to be honest, they have more resmeblence to the Japanese Empire in WW2). While the ISA are more Russia in the latter part of WW2 than compared to the Allies. Essentially after being attacked heavily, they then go on the attack in a horrible, ruthless way and are indeed very discriminatory even before the wars began at all.

In the single players game, the nature of the duck and cover system on Elite level is more frenetic than any other shooter. Essentially warlike. You cannot run and gun in this game on the harder levels. Lots of people claim they can yet they never, ever prove it and what they say is always taken by a pinch of salt by even the best online players, who readily say that Elite makes the game masterful and the duck and cover the most important part of the game. It is a shame most people never play it at that level though.

Either way though, these are two games that I will be adding to my collection, no doubt about that. Even if they were to be released in 2013... the 2012 impending disaster would not be able to stop me from playing them!

Yeah, I like the Resistance franchise a bit better than the Killzone franchise myself.

Still think Resistance:Fall of Man is easily the best shooter made this generation. The second one was good, but not even close to as good as the first.

I want Socom 4 more than Killzone 3 or Resistance 3 though. I was really bummed that they delayed it to 2011. Cant wait for Socom :)

killzone vs resistance.. I am more likely to pick up killzone. Killzone 2 was good, it was not my favorite FPS, but it was good. Resistance 2 i was not impressed at all. It will take a lot to convince me to buy the next one.

the only losers are people who limit their outlook and judge others off the back of it.

If Resistance 3 is anything like Resistance 1, then it will kick Killzone 3s ass.

Although KZ has better graphics, Resistance has the better and more fun gameplay and much better maps (Manchester from R1 > every Killzone 2 map).

I still have not played any of the Killzone or Resistance games, haha. I really have to go out and buy them sometime.

Sadly, neither of these games are going to take much out of Black Ops. The majority of people playing games prefer them to be extremely simple, have camp friendly multiplayer, noob weapons (noobtubes), and have quick matches. That's why Call of Duty games sell so well.

Between the two, though, Killzone 3 will sell a lot better, and most likely be the better game between the two.

Man, you've really missed out on RFOM. It was simply amazing back in its glory days, the online community for RFOM is pretty much dead now. Just jumped on last night after being inactive for a year and a half, TDM is still fun but OBJ pretty much impossible to find now.

That's one of the biggest reason why I haven't picked up any of those games yet. Since the online communities are pretty much non-existent, I don't see much of a point in grabbing the games unless I can get them for really cheap (and also don't plan on buying anything else around the time). I'll have to try to do some bargain hunting.

I also still have so many games that I need to get as it is for 360/PS3/PC (plus I need a new computer), so I try to focus on games that are the most important to me, unless I can get a really good deal, haha. I'm currently trying to build up my PS3 library and just received Demon's Souls today, and it's pretty awesome. =P

Not really. Resistance 2 had a sort of cartoon-like, very colourful art style compared to the gritty Resistance: Fall of Man.

Resistance 3 seems to be returning to the gritty, more realistic R1 feel and definitely looks more visceral than anything before in the Resistance franchise.

It's Simple: Killzone= Great Action- Resistance= Great Boss Fights-Resistance= Great Story- Killzone= Great events- Resistance= Great Weapons- Killzone= Great abilities. and that's before the improvements they have for the current games. The fanboyism may never die but I'll tell the truth, both these games are great in their own ways and better than the competition in some dimensions and getting better.

I think it will be hard to pass on either title. Both are great games. I own the previous versions, so I can't pass on adding the new ones to the stack. If I had to choose one over the other, I would get Resistance 3 first so I can play my sons in co op mode. When they go to bed, I would then rush out to pick up Killzone 3 and a case of Dew so I can stay up playing it all night long. Dang my thumbs hurt already just thinking about it.

I'm sorry. I enjoyed both....but Resistance is the better game. The story, the atmosphere, the enemy variety. I was the first 1 at my gamestop to get KZ2 and I got R2's collector edition. But while you guys struggle to figure out what 2 weapons you'll bring into a fight I'll be carrying my entire weapon wheel everywhere I go.

They are both rather complementary

KZ2: tactical, weighty controls, gritty and dark with an emphasis on cover, seemingly evil earth soldiers attacking an alien planet

R3: fast paced and more arcade-like, more colourful and bit more survival horror, evil aliens attacking Earth

I am glad both of them have coop in the campaign now. Just wish Resistance kept its 8-player independent coop as well.

KZ2>R2 in just about every way that I can remember. The mp for R2 was such a huge letdown coming from R:FoM. Outside of the 8 player co-op, which got boring for me rather quickly, KZ2 crushed R2. The multiplayer was just awful. Fall of Man is still, for me, the best mp experience I've seen for a PS3 game. I hope Insomniac goes back to that style of MP or it won't get much time in my PS3 and that's a shame, because I played the original longer than any other game I've owned.

I will be buying both and with a 6 month gap, minimum, both will get love. But, I'm hoping R3 is a home run.

I'll be buying KZ3 and renting R3. Even with its shortcomings, KZ2 MP was better than R2.

But neither game will surpass the CoD popularity on the Ps3 because they failed to copy the obvious GOOD parts of MW as well as BFBC or Halo....then improve upon them.

you can compare these two games because they didnt fully show a long gameplay, the engine on resistance 3 is called reallife- graphics. We dont know what insomniac is planing for this game so this is a stupid topic. Sony has no competition thats why they got to put KZvsR3. A good argument to a point, however...

GG clearly significantly improved upon KZ1 with KZ2, plus from gameplay videos, we see they have further improved upon KZ2 with KZ3.

Insomniac did improve upon R1 with R2 but it wasn't anything near as much as what GG did....nor was accepted by many R1 fans. Unless Insomniac changes their way of doing things all together, you could easily expect them to bring minor improvements not major .... eg. major changes would include going "modern warfare" times with modern uniforms, equipment, tech etc, switch to a sleek & cool game interface so sleek, bring in customization, have fully usable vehicles and destructible invironments, etc. These all should have been in Resistance:Fall of Man from the beginning.

Insomniac uses more graphics on ratchet because it is their main game. People say other games look better because they dont understand ratchet looks like a pixar movie. It has his own kind of style than other games, R3 might not have graphics like K3 but gameplay will be equal, Insomniac listens to people and do it even better then what we say. People should not underestimate insomniac like they did to naughty-dog. But KillZone is our main sony game. but our main sony character is Solid Snake.

I think it's not really fare to say GG improved on KZ1 with KZ2 in such huge way when you consider that KZ1 was a ps2 game and KZ2 released on the PS3 and was in Dev for a good length of time.

Insomniac released R1 on the ps3 and R2 on the ps3... they are both games of the same generation. KZ1 and KZ2 are both from different generations.

The big test will be seeing how they improve on KZ3 from KZ2 because both games will be within the same Gen and the Dev time will be about the same amount of time as R1 to R2.

Having played KZ3 multiplayer beta long enough to log 2800+ kills I can say that KZ3 is more fun than any, and I do mean any Call of Duty game I have ever played. It absolutely blows KZ2 multiplayer out of the water and I played KZ2 alot. As for Resistance I loved both games but actually liked Resistance 1 more than Resistance 2 other than I loved Resistance 2 co-op mode. I do know that when people play KZ3 there is going to be a new king of multiplayer over any other game on PS3 in my honest opinion, and if you disagree to that then you never played the beta.

Both games look great. Looking forward to both. Resistance 3 looked to have recieved a HUGH leap in the graphics department. Which is always a good thing in my book.
