"You know it’s been 13 years since Final Fantasy VII came out on PlayStation and still one of the most significant things that I (PGN) remember about the game is the now-classic scene of Sephiroth killing Aerith."
"Is it the most significant death in gaming to you?"
The tiny green slasher villain returns in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and is as frightening as ever.
The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Bro who cries over a game?
My GOD Final Fantasy 7 is the most over-rated game OF ALL FUCKING TIME. Everything thing about it!! I mean, the gameplay is fine, but CLOUD and SEPHEROTH themselves are so over-rated its ridiculous.......and now people are saying Aerith's death is the most significant in gaming? Geez, how over-rated can a game get!?
I played it, and I didn't give a dam about her death. She was there for nothing anyway.
I didnt care for a single character at all when I played that game. Final Fantasy 7 is the single most over rated game in the series. FF9 has to be the best PS1 era FF game still and it deserves more love than FF7
EDIT: also Hironobu Sakaguchi didn't work on it so that probably explains why I hated it. After he left Square died...good thing he made Lost Odyssey which is more of a FF title than FF13 lol
Well the author does agree with it being overrated but was her death the most significant is what he's really asking. Umm I'm not one to get too emotional to my games but yeah it was a pretty powerful moment.
