Though your comment is funny have you seriously ever played Final Fantasy VII? It was the frontiere rpg of its day and the first to really go mainstream imo. LOTS of people cried and since most gamers are guys then yup that means that a whole lot of guys cried when they got to that point. Nice video by MegaRAN to!

My GOD Final Fantasy 7 is the most over-rated game OF ALL FUCKING TIME. Everything thing about it!! I mean, the gameplay is fine, but CLOUD and SEPHEROTH themselves are so over-rated its ridiculous.......and now people are saying Aerith's death is the most significant in gaming? I'm no Halo fan (anymore), and definitely not a 360 fanboy, but the 5 deaths of Noble Team in Halo Reach were far more significant than Aerith (specifically, the death of Noble 6). Again, I could care less about Reach now, but I watched the whole campaign and the way those Spartans went out were nothing short of epic and held so much importance.

I'm not saying those were THE MOST important, but they were more important than Aerith's.

it's initial reception was well deserved.
But now people look back like they got the gospel and refuse to look forward.
Now that's ignorance.
It's ok to say you LOVED FF7, but c'mon.
Not EVERYTHING that FF7 did, it did perfectly.
People need to accept that.

Plus, FF6 was the best in terms of gameplay/story ;)
Regardless of the sprite stuff.

Though the RPG i enjoyed the most was Dragon Quest 8 <3

I didnt care for a single character at all when I played that game. Final Fantasy 7 is the single most over rated game in the series. FF9 has to be the best PS1 era FF game still and it deserves more love than FF7

EDIT: also Hironobu Sakaguchi didn't work on it so that probably explains why I hated it. After he left Square died...good thing he made Lost Odyssey which is more of a FF title than FF13 lol

That's exactly what I've been wondering all this time, everyone keeps on crying for a FF7 remake when FF9 is much better in so many ways.

If anything deserves a remake it's FF9 and not FF7, but then again it's typical for Sony fanboys on this site to just go along and say whatever everyone else is saying.

Well the author does agree with it being overrated but was her death the most significant is what he's really asking. Umm I'm not one to get too emotional to my games but yeah it was a pretty powerful moment.

I'd argue that The Boss is more significant in gaming because it represented a woman as a positive role model and mentor to a man! Usually it's the other way around, but Aerith's death is as stereotypical as ever when looking at it retrospectively. The dumb brunette deserved it after she ran off on her own like an idiot she was.
