Eternal Legacy review – GameShard
GameShard writes: "Name comprising verb and adjective that sounds suitably ominous without actually meaning anything? Check. Quasi-turn-based battle system? Check. Party of unlikely allies including, but not limited to, amnesiac vagrant, princess, spunky girl, and smart-mouthed friend? Check. Random assortment of unlikely monsters wandering around between towns? Check. Sci-fi and fantasy influences blended into one? Check. Top it all off with a world that needs saving and a smattering of magic, and you have the formula for a standard JRPG.
Gameloft's Eternal Legacy fulfills every one of the criteria, though it has its sights set higher than just any old JRPG; it's targeting the big boys. In fact, Eternal Legacy wants to be Final Fantasy so badly that you could almost mistake it for a game from the venerable series, blending genre cliche with a massive budget and bucketloads of polish to make a game that looks and feels like a slick JRPG, oozing production value from every pixel and every musical note."
