Dead Space 2 Demo Impressions (RunDLC)

The original Dead Space was so terrifying that we never finished it. Of course, that was 2008. Two years later, we approached the recently released Dead Space 2 demo a bit older and wiser. Besides, those nasty looking necromorphs are just a bunch of polygons. Most importantly, it’s only a video game.

Yeah right.

EDIT 2: Now that I'm looking, I think everything for todays update is there as long as you search for it.

Downloading slow as hell on Live. It'll be worth the wait though I'm sure.

Yeah Live was very slow for me too so I downloaded it on psn. Way quicker.

Huh that's funny, I am having the opposite experience. I downloaded the 360 version earlier today and it was very quick, but I am downloading the PS3 demo now and it is going super slow. I started it around 10 minutes ago and it is only at 4%. I figure it must be because of all the traffic the servers might be getting. At this rate I will never get to try out LittleBigPlanet 2 and Mass Effect 2 tonight.

I have the same experience too. Demo downloads on my PS3 tend to be slow while the Xbox just finishes up quickly. One thing I hate about the PS3 downloads is that you have to install everything you download...the bigger the thing, the longer it takes to install. I've never seen a game demo installing after downloading.

Hmmm maybe that's why they think "the ability to pick up objects and hurl them towards necromorphs (even dismembered limbs)" is new. You could do that in the first one. SMH.

This demo was awesome. The gameplay feels smoother and a little more responsive than the first.

January 25th can't come soon enough.

I was convinced it was impossible to upgrade the "foot stomp" so so satisfying an attack.

Now if you hammer the button he keeps stomping and screams "mother f*cker yeaaahhhh" so its been upgraded awesome stuff.

I bought Dead Space over a yr ago but now im just getting around to it. So far the 1st 3 chapters are a snooze fest. Boring objectives, Melee combat is slow the weapon upgrade system is more lame than innovative . I hope its get better as Resident Evil 5 right now is better.

I would give Dead Space 2 demo a spin.

You can go ahead and play dead space 2 demo without the need of finishing the first one. Controls are a little bit different though but there's an intro video in dead space 2 that shows the events of dead space 1.

I liked how Isaac looked in the first game, all dorky and whatnot. Now his face looks more like a genuine hero. I thought this was something that they wanted to avoid in the first game.

It's hearing him speak within the first minute of gameplay that troubled me. He should have stay silent.

This is kind of getting annoying. A half an hour later and it is still only at 10%.

Anyway, it is a great demo. I already played the 360 demo and I was thoroughly impressed. The graphics are even better than the first one. There are some cool new weapons and mechanics. I love the new zero-G mechanics, for instance. The story also hints at being deeper than the first one.

I definitely plan to get this at the end of January.
