GR - 2010 is arguably one of the best years that gaming has to offer. And while the year was filled with great titles from genres as diverse as RPGs and action games, the FPS genre was where it truly shined. Without ado, here are ten of the best first person shooters of 2010.

you know what the sad thing is....if it was any other game that had such a short SP campaign...all the hacking that goes along with the game, the boosting as well the broken down MP, the game would be destroyed by review sites and it would never be in a top 10 list of anything

You actually believe what you're saying? Activision is WAY too greedy to even think about paying anyone to rate their game. Look at the over priced DLC they make for an example. That explains it all.

I totally agree but it didnt stop them from nitpicking the hell out of GT5 which offers way more then Black Ops & has lesser flaws.

Personaly ill take halo reach, bfbc2, & mag even MOH over Black Ops.

Didn't know Fallout was considered an FPS. I mean, I guess you could... but it honestly isn't the focus and relies a lot more on RPG skill elements rather than shooting skill.

Yea, what do you expect it's the same thing every year every cod is the best.Although cod4 really earned it's spot as one of the best fps shooter this generation but after that it's gone down hill if anything black ops should be in last place and bfbc2 as number one.

Once again, I agree at an extent, but BO does not deserve to be last. Sure COD got a little overrated after 4, but it still does what it does right, fun! I wouldn't say BO should be last on the list, or even 1st, but definitely top 5. All in all, BFBC2 should be #1.

I was also distraught on that when x-play gave it best shooter over BFBC2. C'mon destructible environments?! Over point and shoot snap on aim ownz anything.

No originality in terms of FPSs in 2010, I see only sequels on that list... I believe MAG was a standout and at least made an effort!

Are you kidding me? Treyarch completely tore apart the Modern Warfare 2 juggernaut. No kidding Activision got rid of Infinity ward!

First, Activision did not get rid of Infinity Ward. They are still a part of Activision, just without the head guys and some co workers that decided to leave.

Second, Treyarch took Infinity Wards engine, improved 3 things, which they said themselves, and slapped a story on it, called it Black Ops, and they destroyed modern warefare 2?

Personally I think both games are broken to an extent, but I'd rather play with modern weapons instead of the same old rehashed world war 2 era stuff that treyarch seems to have a love for since they seem to make EVERY COD game in that era.

On a side note, Battlefield should have been number 1.

... then New Vegas came at #7 and I was like... O.o

... but then Metro 2033 came and I was like... =/

I knew right from the start that Bad Company 2 would be in the Top 3 and Black Ops #1... Just because it made so much money does not make it the best FPS. It's hardly changed since CoD4 and only added customization and very small things, thats hardly enough to make it #1 it's become the Smackdown vs RAW of FPS - Still a great game tho, just not #1

I said I wouldn't as a principal, and I stuck to my guns. It's been an overcrowded genre for so long now and I'm sick to death of them.

I'm likely to break that rule next year though, what with Duke Nukem Forever coming out. But I'm only buying that game for the lulz. I'm not missing out on all those golden one-liners.

STALKER: Call of Pripyat, Metro 2033, Fallout: New Vegas and Halo: Reach were my favorites this year. CoP and Metro both look so good.

For me, best MP is BFBC2 and best SP is Reach. Black Ops is strong in both departments so it's hard to say which is best.

BFBC2: SP - 6/10 MP - 9/10
Reach: SP - 9/10 MP - 7/10
Black Ops: SP - 8.5/10 MP - 8.5/10
