Chrono Cross Set for PSN

The Square Enix Members Twitter now has 20,000 followers, and Square Enix is going to be celebrating with its next big PSN Game Archives release, Chrono Cross.

Producer Shinji Hashimoto, who runs the Square Enix Members Twitter, announced the Chrono Cross release today, but did not share a download time frame.

Was about to say, "this game before Xenogears or a dozen other titles?!" but then this is probably JP only.

As a JRPG and former Square fan I'm only confused: did the games really not sell well enough in the West to warrant a re-release?

What's wrong with Chrono Cross? It's a great game.

Granted, Xenogears is my favorite JRPG of all time, but there's nothing wrong (IMO) with releasing this game either (wish they'd also put FF Anthology on PSN, but who knows about that one.)

The only old Squaresoft titles Square Enix haven't dragged their heels for Western release have been the FF games.

Xenogears has yet to be release her, and chances are Chrono Cross wont see the light of day - here - either.

Chrono Cross is my favorite game ever. Period. The thing is, I already own it and currently have no access to Xenogears. I am super excited for a Cross release on PSN, but yeah, I'll still be wishing for some gears too.

Square releasing these old classics is really a look back into just how badly Squaresoft has fallen from grace. They used to be the premier console developer, and now look at them.

I doubt they will release Xenogears here though. I think we need to worry more about Nintendo releasing Xenoblade here more than anything :(. I'll be very upset if Nintendo doesn't localize that, because I've heard its his best work since Xenogears.

I haven't finished this one cause I couldnt seem to be strong enough to kill the bird you whistle in at the swamp...

I put a lot of time into this game, and plan on rebuying it cuase it is one of the few great RPGs I need to complete.

I would like to see FF Chronicles version of Chrono Trigger(PS One) make it's way to the PSN too.

And Xenogears, This game I never played. I don't know why, but it is the only Square game on PS1 that came out in the US that I never played any bit of.

This release is long overdue. I've played more RPG's than I can remember but this is one that definitely stands out. Easily one of the best I've ever played and follows Chrono Trigger beautifully.

Sweet, this will go well with the 100+ classic ps1 games sony has recently introduced to PSN. If they don't release it on the US store, I will have to find alternative means to obtain it.
-There are so many games to play, it's CRAZY! I'm really going to be thoroughly entertained for the next few years and beyond.

I remember playing this game ages ago and thinking, "What the hell, this is NOTHING like Chrono Trigger." I think I found the HUGE roster of characters overwhelming.

Might be time to check it out again now that I'm not longer 10 with ADHD.

I would like that, but I won't get my hopes up. Square will be disappointed this game doesn't sell 2 million and say there's no fanbase for a sequel.

square enix is doing it all wrong.

square enix should follow the same path as the god of war, sly, prince of persia, and ico/shadow is doing.

re-release a retail version of the hd and make it a collection.
just go all the way.

and release a kingdom hearts 3

WOW! if all those games were on the same disc, sales would be extremely good for sure. it's just that it's not the best choice for them. They would probably release a collection, but not all those titles on the same disc. Probably 1-6 on one. 7-9, chrono series on another, kingdom hearts and maybe FF10 10-2 12 on another.
That would be the kind of move you could expect from square enix.
Fans been asking for a FF7 remake for years and yet, no sign about it. releasing the tech demo of FFVII was definitly not a good idea if they had no intention at all of remaking it... a BIG tease for nothing! it's only understandable that fans would be pissed off about it.

they should re-release the big hits from the ps2 days.

fatal frame
silent hill
grand theft auto HD re releases
ratchet and clank
jak and daxter
previous socoms
ace combats
namco bandai games collections

and so on....

all in HD remake with multiple platinum trophies just like the sly collection.

it helps out both the game companies as well as the gamers.

*also missing star ocean 1-3 from the above list
