Gamer re-creates first ever official Halo screenshot in Halo:Reach

Gamersmint: This sure gives us a trip down memory lane, a gamer known by the name of Will has dugg out the first official Halo screenshot which Microsoft released nearly 10 years ago and has tried to replicate it in Bungie’s final halo game, Halo: Reach.

Not to nitpick, but I am pretty sure this screenshot was from Bungie when the game was being created for the mac. The final look of Halo was better than this.

Edit: Point of this - Microsoft did not release this image, Bungie did. And the game looked better when it was released.

I played through the original Halo at least 5 times, and just because it is on Wikipedia as an official image does not mean it was from the final build.
Do you mean to say that all official images that are released are from the final build? Read a little about the development of Halo, and I think you will agree.

Additionally, this site even says the image was from 1999, the game released in 2001. Not the final build.

Even though is was originally conceptualized as an rts, like their Myth series, I don't believe that aspect ever made it into production. The original announce video/screens were the game as a fps.

I got to admit, there is obviously an inprovement in the last 10 years, but the original Halo shot has a sexier sky.

Oh and the screenshot says 1999, but Halo first dropped 11 Nov 2001. That is kind of a error right?

The first official screenshots and video for Halo were made at Macworld 1999 when Steve Jobs brought Bungie out on stage. Few people realize that Halo was supposed to be a Mac exclusive to help boost Macs in the gaming world. But MS did what they do best, and stole them from Apple.

This screenshot is NOT from the final game. This is from the original Mac version of Halo in 1999.

To me, TVippy is trolling because he made a seemingly immature statement without any back up. If a GT5 (positive or negative) article gets released, and I posted on there simply saying "wow all these years of development and no evolution at all...", wouldn't you think I was trolling?

this has to be the weakest attempt/excuse of "news" I've ever seen on N4G. We've all seen incredible works from fans that really make you wonder how they pulled it off, and this isn't one of them. The image is off in many ways. I wasn't expecting a 1:1 recreation, but come on. There are more important things out there that gamers who visit N4G could be catching up on without having to wade through this kind of nonsense. Needless to say, I was disappointed, so I don't think I'm the only one.

Yeah thats from the mac version. And the guy up top is right halo ce didnt even come out in 99 so its no where near the final build. And on top of that halo and ninja giaden was the best looking games last gen. And they couldnt be done on ps2. Dont see why PS guys trying to rag on xbox graphics when ps2 graphics were crap compared to xbox last gen.

At least Mario had Super Mario Galaxy. That game had MANY things that were new to the series. People who make Mario comments like this seem to omit or forget about Galaxy. Compare the Gameplay elements of SMG 1 and 2 to other Mario Games. It's crazy to say that there's little difference.

The only major thing it retains is the collecting stars aspect.
