Distant Worlds is the type of game you would get if Sim City and Galactic Civilizations made a baby together. It is both a remarkably deep strategy game and a wonderful galactic simulator. What is more, it attempts to be all things to people, allowing players to custom-tailor the gameplay to their liking. Usually, such an over-ambitious formula proves to be a recipe for disaster – but not this time. Despite the odds, Code Force has managed to produce a solid RT4X gaming experience that can hold its head high amongst older, better established franchises from larger studios. With an expansion in the works, Distant Worlds clearly has a bright future. All things considered, Code Force has delivered a galactic tour de force.
From GameWatcher: "Video game technology has long been used by military organisations to train people, from flight simulators and remote drone controls to the famous America's Army recruitment tool back in the early noughts. Now, Slitherine/Matrix Game has announced its partnership with the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) for the professional use of long term military training projects."

Over the last few months I have been wanting to put together a holiday have-to-have guide for gamers that would cover various items and games that we have covered (or, maybe we had been interested in). This is more of a list of things that I, as a gamer, would want to see in every gamer's hands or on their desks. It is less of a "Best of 2014" article and more of a "you should certainly pick this up this holiday season" article. While some of the things here may come up in a top ten list or something of the like, there is no rhyme or reason to this article other than my personal thoughts on some of this years best, or underrated, games, peripherals, or consoles.
NorbSoftDev and Matrix Games have announced a new title today in the Scourge of War series. While other titles in the series have always been based during the American Civil War, we head over the Atlantic in Scourge of War: Waterloo!
