Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Update Adds Unskippable Shift 2 Unleashed Trailer

"Need of Speed Hot Pursuit has received a launch day update that adds an unskippable trailer for the newly announced Need for Speed title, Shift 2 Unleashed. In-game advertising is one thing, but forcible pre-game advertising? I see trouble on the way."

Nitrowolf24692d ago

wow that is just retarded. So is it a one time thing? I sure hope so.

Blacktric4691d ago

I hate EA's policy about showing its logos. You can't get past their logos in most of their games. And now this. Though at least this is just one time only.

MGRogue20174692d ago (Edited 4692d ago )

.. wtf, that's ridiculous. I hate to say it but this is slightly affecting my decision on whether I will buy this game or not now lol

electricshadow4692d ago

It's only a one time thing when you first start up the game. The trailer is a little over a minute long. It's a great game and you're going to miss out on it because you have to watch a trailer? Wow.

MGRogue20174692d ago (Edited 4692d ago )

Nah, I'll most likely still get it. I'm a big fan of the NFS series. :)

Besides, It looks like something that you wouldn't want to miss out on.

SMW4691d ago

Or everyone could NOT buy it until they release another patch removing this.

You know, the whole "Consumers drawing the line" thing...

Dick move EA. Makes me glad that I found the demo repulsive.

nickjkl4691d ago (Edited 4691d ago )

i remember on need for speed underground 2 they had demo for burnout and trailers for either games or movies i dont remember which but i do remember playing the burnout demo

thats the correct way to do it this, this is not

AaronMK4690d ago (Edited 4690d ago )

I have three games I would like to get, but likely only time to play one, maybe two, until the next slew of games I want to get comes out.

So yes, I will "miss out" on this, and use the time freed from non-infinite gaming time to not "miss out" on other great titles that don't force feed me ads instead.

@SMW .... Weren't you on 3 bubbles yesterday?! What's the betting you'll only have 1 left by tomorrow ...

Jdoki4691d ago

Big deal. It's a one off thing.

To those moaning about this... I suppose you turn up to the movie theatre late because you hate to watch the trailers. Refuse to watch TV channels that have adverts, or that isn't on PVR. Refuse to use an Xbox360 because they force adverts on you in the Dashboard. Refuse to buy DVD's/Blu-Ray that don't allow you to skip the adverts. And so on....

JacobIsHollywood4691d ago

Movie trailers are usually made to entertain.

A trailer for a racing game (that Polyphony or Evolution weren't involved with) is going to suck.

JacobIsHollywood4691d ago

So tired of people disagreeing without replying...

Jdoki4691d ago

It's not about whether the trailer is entertaining (and I've seen plenty of trailers before a movie that are anything but entertaining!), it was a comparison to how we are forced to watch trailers/adverts in some circumstances.

Lets put it another way... Would you rather watch one advert a single time, or pay more for a game? Whose to say that ad revenue wouldn't be used to fund development, or allow the game to be sold for less money. Or maybe the devs just care enough to want to make you aware of another racing game!!

firelogic4691d ago (Edited 4691d ago )

So then why did you buy NFS to begin with? Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither of the studios mentioned had any part in making Hot Pursuit. It was Criterion. Since you think Criterion sucks, you clearly wouldn't have bought, rented, or even played the game, therefore you wouldn't have watched the trailer to begin with. Why are you posting?

e3kehoe4690d ago

I liked the trailer! Looks great on my tv.. Very detailed

"Refuse to buy DVD's/Blu-Ray that don't allow you to skip the adverts."

how do you know if the movie lets you do that before buying it?

ExitToExisT4691d ago

well.. at least it plays once

AwesomeJizz4691d ago (Edited 4691d ago )

This by far is the most idiotic thread on here.
IT ONLY PLAYS ONCE! Why would it make me mad when it only plays once?
And to be honest, this trailer is awesome and NFS fans will sure enjoy it.

Looking Back to Two of Need for Speed's Best Games - Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit

Paul writes - "EA know a good thing when they see it, and for multiple years November was Need for Speed month. In a break from the usual routine, I'm going to be looking back at two games here, released in 2005 and 2010 respectively. The earlier game is Need for Speed: Most Wanted, which has the distinction of being one of the very best in the franchise. The second game comes from 2010, and is Need for Speed Hot Pursuit; which I'll talk about just as the Remastered version of the game has hit the stores."

Uuuu, I loved this one. I want it.

LucasRuinedChildhood1088d ago

No NFS released since Hot Pursuit (2010) has came close. The Ghost Games NFS games were just dreadful (to me they were anyway, 2015 was okay I suppose). Would love to replay this and I hope it has an update for next-gen as well.

DarkZane1088d ago (Edited 1088d ago )

I loved Most Wanted as well (on PS3, I think it released in 2012). After that, it has gone downhill, but the latest games are slowly coming back up. I loved NFS Heat, but it needs to get better before it comes back to same level as NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted.

Then again, NFS Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted were likely better because they were from Criterion (in fact, those were the last 2 games from criterion in nfs series).

LucasRuinedChildhood1088d ago

@DarkZane
complete agree. Most Wanted was good fun as well.
