A new trailer for Winning Eleven PES 2008, is now available. The graphics in this trailer are quite impressive, and hopefully this game brings out something new to the Soccer sports game genre.
Dutch gamingwebsite Gamecloud made a special about the probably longest gaming war in history. Part 1 is about the past, where part 2 will be a preview on both games coming up, being FIFA 10 and PES 2010.

Though I recognize the entertainment value and respect those who put in the time to create custom teams, modify the roster lists of entire leagues to reflect their current situations, trade and sign those players for various contracts, and then take their carefully tuned teams through seasons and tournaments...that's just not me. I'm much more of a pick-up-and-play guy when it comes to sports games -- especially soccer -- and I guess I blame that on being born in a country that thinks "football" should be something else entirely. So if you're looking for that management perspective on Pro Evolution 2008, you won't find it here. But what you will find is someone who actually played the sport for quite some time in his younger days and frequently enjoys friendly matches of what was once called Winning Eleven. And from that perspective, I don't see much in Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 that's worth this year's annual investment.
Superficially, there's absolutely no reason to upgrade from the stable and refined PS2 version of the game. Here we are, more than two years into a console lifecycle, and the Pro Evo series doesn't seem at all interested in making a serious attempt at impressive visuals. The resolution is higher, but the opportunity to improve player models, field textures, and general lighting is wasted. If you run a side-by-side comparison between the PS2 and PS3 versions of the game, you would probably notice some differences, but the overall look of the game still feels old because it doesn't make the graphical "jump" that it's overdue for. There's even a little visual regression; frequent (and unacceptable) slowdown saps the energy out of what should be exciting replays, and it even affects in-game action from time to time".

The special Xbox 360 version of the most popular games magazine in Japan has just hit store shelves and its always interesting to look at the review scores. In the latest issue, Xbox 360 cracker Lost Odyssey was reviewed for the first time, and rewarded with 9/8/8/8 which brings its total to 33/40 which equals 8.25/10. Other games that have been reviewed are Guilty Gear 2, Virtua Fighter 5, Kingdom Under Fire, Conan, Stuntman and Viva Pinata Party Animals.

Giving ME 10, is really biased. I mean, game is great, But not PERFECT 10, game has issues and that s a FACT. So, most M$ games scores are bought by M$. Nothning new here.

While someone that hasn't played Uncharted would call it a crap game and who in their right mind calls a 88% score average a crap game? You sir are delusional. Halo3 is more of a crap game, while I'll give you Bioshock, and Mass Effect are great games. Still funny how the lowest score for Mass Effect is a 7/10 while Uncharted is a solid 8. Someone thought it was a crappier game than Uncharted. Right now while playing all the game you love to list as stellar game, Uncharted has been the BEST experience yet. Still haven't played ME so that might change in a few weeks. To end this little rant Uncharted is by far anything but a crap game.

Perhaps Mass Effect got a perfect 10 from someone because in their book, right now Mass Effect is an excellent RPG?
I wasn't aware that RPGs were upheld to the same criteria that FPS are. Or perhaps Puzzle games?
The texture loading and the so called framerate issues (which I have seen none of) never detract from the game itself. And if you're playing Mass Effect for its Team AI abilities you are deluisial.
The game is being graded on its other merits like perhaps a top notch story.
If we graded RPGs sheerly by graphics, FFVII would have lower scores. The character models had jaggy issues as well as some weird animations with those characters. Don't get me wrong, FFVII is a GREAT game but if you were rating it would you give it a 7 because of graphical issues? No. You wouldn't. Yes, I know the backgrounds were amazing. Some of my favorite desktops come from that game.
So you think all the reviewers are like some bloody gods that won't give unrealistic scores unless they are paid to do so?

I had expected higher scores. Then again, Lost Odyssey is ranked #7 in the Famitsu Most Wanted chart, two week before release. Blue Dragon at that time, was at something like #18. So I expect double Blue Dragon sales, or atleast equal.
bluedragon is the highest selling 360 game was also the first 360 game that japanese gamers really wanted to play. sold more in Japan than it did in NA despite xbox large install base

LO was to be a worldwide launch, so it has likely been through most (or all) of the localization. I think LO was moved to Feb in the west due to Mass Effect. We have already seen trailers in english.

I want to like Japanese games, but they always fall short when compared to western games. Compare Mass Effect and Oblivion to Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata. I have beat all of them (50% thru Mass Effect), and I can say that Japan is complacent. They have great artists, but stagnant game engines.
I also beat Dead Rising several times, and I agree that it fell just shy of being worth $60. The first half was amazing and the second half was terrible.
