IGN: Dance Central Kinect Review

IGN: It takes a special kind of bravery to get up in front of a group of friends and dance around like a crazy person. In Dance Central, the first Kinect-friendly party game from the talented folks at Harmonix, players will need a fair helping of that bravery. This is the first "real" dance game I've ever played, one that demands actual full-body dancing from the player (and not just the fancy footwork required in the DDR franchise). This means you need a gung-ho attitude to play, but it also means that you have one fantastic party game for people that love to dance. Although Dance Central isn't a perfect experience, the good times that come with it are well worth the investment.

Hmm, i expected a good score. :D

I liked the game's previews..

Gonna go check this out if a bestbuy near me puts up as a demo.

Harmonix makes some great games, I expected this to receive great scores, especially considering the hyped previews.

I agree T9X69, it looks like a great game. I hope I get to play it one day.

"Compared to Rock Band, it's not their best work, AND not worth the price of admission. Not surprised : o"

How do you compare a dance game to a music game?

Lightsaber5311d ago

From the way people have been talkin about this game I actually thought it be getting 9's and 10's not that 8 is a bad score just thought it be higher

Cyrax_875311d ago

Not bagging Kinect or Move but I don't expect any of these shovelware launch games to get 9s or 10s. Next year though, for sure.

OmarsAccount5311d ago (Edited 5311d ago )

The game didn't look bad, I was right. Dance Central seems like a killer app for the casual crowd, and maybe even a pleaser for 'hardcore' gamers if they get to play it.

kasasensei5311d ago

i think Just Dance on the wii is perfect for casual, because you can cheat without any problem, but here, with dance central it's a bit different, you can't cheat or fake the movements, you have to do them perfectly, so i'm not sure DaCe is the proper game to recommend to pure casual crowd.

Yeah..I'm gonna pick it up in a couple of weeks..IGN confirms this is the highest rated Kinect game at launch..

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would play this game. Any of the other ones sure but I wouldn't touch this game if you payed me. And it's the killer app for kinect. Yeah.

Party + Dance game/Music Game = Win

-GoldenTimeLover-5311d ago (Edited 5311d ago )

But what if the guy partying is a dark-skinned guy who wants to try the game? Several reports say Kinect doesnt recognize dark-skinned people.

And also, what if they're only partying in a limited space?

So you see, its not really a guaranteed win.

chazjamie5310d ago

you mean like 2 reports that have question marks all over the place.

Compared to Rock Band, it's not their best work, AND not worth the price of admission. Not surprised : o

despair5311d ago (Edited 5311d ago )

only launch kinect game that actually looked interesting but certainly not enough to spend $200 on. (for those not sure what I mean, its kinect + the game)

kasasensei5311d ago (Edited 5311d ago )

No career, nothing to unlock, you can barely customize dancers, limited multi-player (for a PARTY game!!), and this game got a 8...
Right...

It's the only kinect game i'm looking for, but i'm a little disappointed about the lack of these features... Guess i'll wait for someone to pick it for me to test it.

Dance Central Will Always Be Superior to Just Dance

With Xbox 360 and a Kinect peripheral now cheap as chips, I finally got down with my funky self with Dance Central.
