Buy a PlayStation 3 -- ZING! The Xbox Live Fall Update hit today and brought with it a slew of problems. The most notable issue seems to be people trying to download the update in the first place. Don't worry, someone is here to help.
Buy a PS3, easy joke there. Nice to know it's not a problem with this xbox and other people are having issues too.
Why are so many people saying it isn't a problem when it obviously is affecting some people? Just google it and read all the comments. The fanboyism in these comments is disturbing... Even mikhail_tisoy admits it but just excuses it away, yet other people just flat out say it's not happening. You kids, I swear.
experienced any of the notorious xbox live bugs and failures made popular here one N4g. I updated my Dashboard Omonday morning without a hitch and it updates in about a minute and a half flat.
I found this article helpful. I was getting frustrated thinking I was having connection issues, but it turned out not to be my fault after all. Good advice at the end: turn the 360 off, wait a few minutes and try again. Worked for me.
I don't have any problems with the update itself, but I can't renew my XBL subscription for some reason. I want to play Reach but can't cause my XBL ran out on the 1st, and now it won't let me update it. Is anyone having a similar problem?
We were 1st in getting the update here in Australia. Not one single problem occurred when trying to update. Not everyone is going to have a problem...
Updated this morning-- with no problems at all.
Wow, just because YOU didn't have a problem must mean that NO ONE has a problem, right? I guess staving kids in Africa don't exist either because YOU aren't hungry.
Agreed. Saying no one has problems just because you didn't is very narrow minded. Cookigaki didn't have problems with update but there ARE people that have.
wait...maybe theres some hidden text im not seeing, but no where in that post did i see the guy say NO ONE is having problems
Yes, you missed it because you didn't look to see that this same user reported the story and said "is this actually a problem?" indicating that he doesn't believe anyone is having an issue.
"I guess staving kids in Africa don't exist either because YOU aren't hungry." LOL! Good one.
"I guess staving kids in Africa don't exist either because YOU aren't hungry." +Bubbles for that stuff. LOL.
No problems. Examiner GTFO! Oh and in an effort to give this POS as little hit's as possible here is the entire pile. Buy a PlayStation 3 -- ZING! The Xbox Live Fall Update hit today and brought with it a slew of problems. The most notable issue seems to be people trying to download the update in the first place. Don't worry, we're here to help. Upon signing in to Xbox Live, there is a prompt to update the console. Most likely, if you are reading this article, you end up with an "Update Failed" notification that suggests you check your connection settings or head to xbox.com/support for help. The good news is that you most likely do not actually have a connection problem, at least not one on your end. Maybe you've tried to hit up the Xbox support page and found it, too, is not working. Again, this isn't your problem. After several emails and waiting in the queue for some help, Microsoft explained the problem as simply a bandwidth issue. So many people are trying to download the update right now that the Xbox Live servers can't handle it. Then, of course, all of those people getting error messages head to the support page for help and cause the same problem over there. Stop the insanity! You may hear or read a variety of workarounds or MacGuyvered solutions to get your update, but signing in and out five times, resetting your modem, turning off auto sign-in, etc. are not actually going to speed up the process. The only thing you can do is be patient and wait for your update to magically succeed. Rest assured that you do not have a broken console, and your Internet connection is just fine. You will get your update as soon as Microsoft can get it to you. So the short answer is that you shouldn't get frustrated or spend countless hours googling a solution. Just relax, make yourself a sandwich, and let this article ease your mind while you wait for your update to finally go through.
Refer to my comment for #2.
And refer to my response.. Liar.. Oh look you're the author.. surprise surprise!
This article could have just been three words. Just be patient.
"wave to screen" ?
No problems these guys are just reporting on random issues they are looking for. The article looks like flame and sounds old(by a day). There was the expected traffic overload when the update first released that caused systematic prompts that show up as typical errors. When too many people try to download something all at once the server will lock you out and the 360 doesn't know any better but to display the defacto errors etc. Zune Music marketplace and and ESPN had traffic issues locking me out. I've been locked out of past NXE updates. XBL runs perfect only hours after you notice these slow downs. Might be IP too and not XBL Shouldn't examiner.com be in the tabloid section?
straight away after update i was freakin out then i unplugged my usb stick and it worked, phew!
Speaking of music and the update is it me or can you now play with or tweek the music screen saver by manually adjusting the joy sticks?
...you could do that SINCE LAUNCH. :o
I'm not talking about changing the pattern with the bumpers and d-pad etc I'm talking about zooming in and out and rotating the patterns with the left and right sticks.
Microsoft is so professional. They don't half ass anything. Have fun buying Kinect. I'm sure it works perfect.
Because Microsoft is perfect and they could never have problems. /S No company is perfect and any company rolling out a update to a consumer audience larger than Comcast in a single day is going to have problems. There is nothing wrong with the new dashboard itself as I have been using it for a month already with no hiccups. The problems were caused by the amount of people trying to download the update at once.
One thing that is perfect is my controller and it's always going to effect what's on screen 100% of the time. Motion control works, most of the time. If you set it up right and even then it's not perfect. So wait, something is perfect. If I hit a button on my controller and that's the fire button. It'll fire every time. Hey that's perfect and this post was the perfect ownage.
There is no such thing as perfect only the drive for perfection. Its quite sad that you "hardcore gamers" would find anything perfect in move seeing as of last year suggesting anything of the kind to the Wii would have gotten you blasted. Fanboyism is a wonderful thing isn't it? Oh I also guess NASCAR is a credible racing league beyond perfection as its now in GT5 right?
for server demand to go down or just taking a minute to restart your console you should go out and spend $300 on another console... that makes sense.
Makes perfect sense if you are an adult. Yes, the 360 is a console(sorta) But it was made for children & teens.
Hey look at troll! Like that wasn't expected, because children and teens can afford a $300 console and $60 a year with all the jobs they currently have.
Thought the "ZING!" made it obvious that was sarcasm. Guess people aren't as smart as Cookigaki gave them credit for
Does not work on the internet let alone N4G, knowing some of the PS3 fanboys on this website its hard to tell when they are being serious or joking.
....because the PS3 NEVER has updates that cause problems. Oh wait....
With any big update or release, your probably going to have some problems. The ps3's numerous updates crashes the ps3 a few times so it's not unheard of. On a side note, The EPSN section in Xbox Live is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Being a huge Soccer fan and living in America, it's hard to get games from the Barclays league and La Liga. Well now I do all for free and in HD. :)
how some of these comments are so childish: "It never happened to me, so the problem never existed." I had a connectivity issue occur to me. Did the same thing that was stated, which was to wait for a bit and try again. Just because YOU don't have an issue to happen doesn't mean it never exists.
Do you what I love. Is people coming on hear and telling us to get a PS3. WELL guess what I have a PS3 (fat) and the bloody thing won't update to version 3.5, so I can't go online. Gets to 99% and fails. I have tried downloading and a usb stick all to no effect. The latest news, I have is that it is the hard drive I am using. On a brighter side. I update my 360 with no problems.
if you pray to jesus to create a problem he sure creates a HUGE! problem lol it seems that not only ps3 owners got hit by a BUG in the clock but it is painfully clear that MS & 360 owners are not lucky enough...... maybe going to church would liven up a sprite or 2 don't you think so.
hence I never update my PS3 or 360 when new updates come out.. I wait a couple of days and let the dust settle.
