An inconvenient truth: game prices have come down with time

It's hard to believe that games cost $60 per title these days. We worry about the strain our hobby puts on our budget, and we fret about too many desirable games released too close to each other. We wish for the good old days, when gaming was a less expensive hobby and our dollar carried more weight.

Sadly, although many complain about the high price of games, the past really wasn't any better. In fact, it was worse. Gaming has never been less expensive, and 2010 is a great time to be buying games. Let's take a look at how this is the best time to be a gamer since... well, the beginning of games.

last gen it was 50$, now it's 60$, I won't be surprised if it becomes 70$ next gen, but that'll only make the second hand market even stronger.

And this is the kind of comment you expect from someone who has played games only since last gen or so.

At least read the article. Videogames before were even more expensive- I remember the prices even on the N64.

Either way, I very much doubt the game prices go up AGAIN next generation. Why? Easy, most people would go on an outrage.

If you adjust for inflation, it is likely close to the same cost. The only difference now and then, is your income was lower to compensate for the lower priced item!

If you look at the quality of the content, you are also getting even more value.

It's true, it's never been cheaper to be a gamer!

"Players can now hide system apps, pin favorites to the list, and reduce the number of tiles displayed. This update is part of our ongoing effort to make Home more personal, flexible, and responsive to feedback."

This is welcomed, i like a less cluttered home screen.

.
Well anything that adds and help gamers is a good thing even if some don’t need it there’ll be more that will use it.

Well its MS news... those are usually pretty dry, unless it has something to do with another game being ported to PS. then its top of the pops.

Oh look no further than the "Upcoming layoffs at MS" topic. It will easily top the Hottest of the week.

Special guests like Mr. Dead might also show up. You just watch.

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.
