Rooted in a fantasy-based world, Elemental picks and chooses some of the more interesting mechanics used in other games — and genres, to some extent — but it does so at a cost. The game is sometimes uncomfortably difficult to place and shifts between feeling like a great jack-of-all-trades and, at the same time, not giving enough attention to certain aspects."
