CMA:
I have really begun to become a fan of my Droid X by Motorola. Since received the Froyo update last week the device is working almost as good as the iPhone (jury is still out). This Android app review will discuss a game I have been playing called “Air Attack.” This game is a quirky fps game with the user being a little dude on the ground who is trying to take down planes, helicopters, and paratrooper dudes. The game has some cheesiness to it, but it has grown on me. Watch the video to see what I mean. One continuous feature I really dig about the Droid X games is the largeness of the screen when playing games like this.
148apps: AirAttack has bullets, flames, lasers, fire, and who knows what raining upon you by all sorts of assorted enemies. There’s plenty of firepower to be had here.
TMA: I love shmups (shoot ‘em ups), though I’m not keen on that nickname. There have actually been some pretty sharp shooters on the iPhone, but I still hadn’t found that one yet that I could constantly refer back to, much like I used to do with Claygun when writing about Pocket PC shmups.
No Dpad:
The app store has recently suffered no lack of top-down shooters. Unfortunately, most of them have sent my running back to Space Invaders Infinity Gene like a hurt child to his mum. Happily, Art In Games‘ Air Attack ( iPhone / iPad ) is not one of those games. Instead, it’s a genuinely good top-down shooter — good without any need for qualifiers — and the game that 1942: First Strike probably should have been, but wasn’t.
