TMA: It’s no secret that I love platform games, and it’s probably not a surprise either that I’ve been a bit under-whelmed with the offerings on the App Store. From a presentation point of view Wizzley Presto and the Vampires Tomb could easily raise those expectations. Sadly, poor movement controls and a lousy save system keep this one from rising above the crowd.
Touch Arcade:
Wizzley Presto and the Vampires Tomb is lovely, clever, and quite enjoyable. I'm pleased the team took the extra time needed to build the game up to its current form (and hope that they soon spend some time on the iPhone 4 fix). And, if you have what it takes to be the first to finish the challenge, the developers have a $1,500 prize waiting for you.
There was once a time when puzzle-based platformers ruled the roaming landscape of gaming and the Dizzy series lived large during this time, challenging players to solve its labyrinthine series of puzzles. Sadly, not everyone had the patience to crack the thick shell of logic puzzles combined with platforming agility, so it's odd that 'Wizzley Presto and the Vampires Tomb' by Spellbound Games decided to run with this strange throw-back in gameplay.
Pocket Gamer: Looking to the past for inspiration can often backfire, but in the case of Wizzley Presto and the Vampires (sic) Tomb it's a definite bonus.
