Anthony Taormina of Game Rant writes: "Kinect could have stepped forward as the motion controller of choice for the hardcore gamer, for the gamer who feels that what the Wii has to offer is too casual, and is too focused on group play. But that isn’t happening. At least, not yet. Neither Kinect, nor its spiritual brother in motion, PlayStation Move, should be attempting to repeat the Wii formula. They should instead be developing their own niche in order to appeal to those gamers who feel left in the cold by motion based gaming."
Air Conflicts: Secret Wars debuted in 2011, and later updated for modern consoles. However, it's the PlayStation 3 edition that stands out.
Joy Ride Turbo launched 10 years ago today. The first title was Xbox Kinect exclusive, yet this sequel failed to support the device at all.
Cultured Vultures: "Sadly, not all hardware is created equal, and no matter how much developers might try, some gaming hardware just fails to hit the mark. We’ve compiled a list of 10 gaming hardware fails, and boy did some fail hard."
I would label the Power Glove, Kinect, and that Tony Hawk skateboard more as hardware addons hardware failure would be like the Virtual Boy and one day Stadia.
The picture should be the 360 RROD. When I think of gaming hardware failures that's what springs to mind. Kinect and it's bundled price tag definitely hobbled the already underpowered Xbox One though for sure so I would give it a close second place.
Lol I had the Atari Jaguar, surprised its "competition" the 3DO isn't on the list too, both as "popular" as each other.
Stadia is a weird one. It hasn’t sold at all well but in terms of how it works it’s still miles ahead of Xcloud in terms of stability and performance. Xcloud is still a way behind and that needs sorting but it will be in time. Stadia for me is one of those things that will go down as a what could have been moments. With better marketing it could have been a roaring success. I still play it and it remains the best place in my opinion to play CyberPunk 2077. Only platform I have played it on without having any issues at all. The tech is great. The concept is fine. Marketing terrible. Shame really.
The Xbox One was Microsoft’s Nintendo Wii U. Undercooked, undersold and just an unholy mess. The thing is with any of these failures is to learn from them and thankfully both Nintendo and Xbox did just that to the benefit of gamers everywhere.
Sounds like a person who was really psyched up for Kinect - realized that it is going down and now wants to take Move down with it.
The poor person actually believed the Milo demo. Actually believed that Kinect would be suitable for hardcore games. Wow.
they are both here to stay, im getting the move day 1, as soon as i see a proper game for kinect i will also pick that up, then again if the kids want 1 for christmas then i will get it for them.
in NO WAY would an add-on that takes away the buttons would have been the best option for the core gamer.NO WAY.you mean taking away the controller, mouse and keyboard would be great for the core?get real.
ps move on the other hand, out does the wiimote and wiimotion plus in every way.and shows in ACTUAL DEMOS,that it can do what kinect cannot do.just look at Anton's WORKING DEMOS and look at kinect's LACK of DEMOS.
core gamers like precision.the wiimote and kinect aren't precise.that's where they lose the core gamer.you can still have fun,but not a very deep experience.
and the writer obviously doesn't see sony's strategy.sony is offering the core gamer options day one.as it will work with existing games, existing downloads and will work for future games like killzone3 and socom4.not have core gamers waiting 18 months like kinect is aiming for.
not totally disrespect the current fanbase and make no games for them as kinect does.sony knows that some casual gamers will get a ps3.but they are taking care of their fanbase first.that's what got them this far without wii casual gamers.
pulling in wii casual gamers is just a side effect of great controller design and word of mouth on it's capabilities.but you take care of the fans first and that's what sony is doing.if they just wanted casual, they would have stuck with pseye only and waving your hands.sort of like that other thing releasing in november...
cant wait!
