IGN: F1 2010: Living the Life of a Driver

IGN: It's been a long while stuck in the wilderness for F1 fans, but finally, Codemasters are on the verge of releasing a new F1 title for PC, PS3 and 360. Can it live up to expectations? We caught up with Stephen Hood, Chief Developer on F1 2010, to find out.

I like that he focused so much on details! Accurate track data, and simulation is keywords for successin this genre of racing games . I think this is turning out to be exactly how I wanted/expecting it to be, 6 months ago. :-)

... Gran Turismo 5 sends it's regards. :P

GT5 need to worry about fixing its piss poor driving physics, last generation handling and lava lamp damage modeling.

:P

jrisner4999d ago

GT5 is sports cars, this is open wheel. Big difference in handling. I mean who doesn't know that.

bennyace4999d ago (Edited 4999d ago )

In every article about a racing game....some idiot has to bring up GT5? No one here played it yet. But it's the best racing game of all time! Go figure. All we know is that it looks good but no one talks about how the driving is. We always read "graphics are amazing" type of comments. While we're at it. I think that the sense of speed is awful in GT games compare to the F1 championship edition game. In which you really feel you're going fast and dont have to look at the speedometer to know so.

Anyways it's not even the same type of racing game and it's not targeted to the same audience.

C'mon already!

On topic: This game looks awesome can't wait to play it!

aaron58294999d ago (Edited 4999d ago )

go play NFS and burout if you want over the top "sense of speed"

i can give you tons of real life racing videos, which may look slow to you, but i'd bet you crap in your pants if you're sitting in the car.

On topic : as an F1 fanatic.. day 1 buy for me...

bennyace4998d ago

For NOT understanding my point...

Hoje03084999d ago

Comes out next week, so I doubt it. After a four year wait, I'll buy just about any F1 game that comes out at this point.

jay24999d ago

God, Dead rising 2 and F1 2010 on the same day, it's going to be my favorite kind of day gaming day, and soon the last year of my degree course to actually be making games, can't wait, that starts on the 27th.

mijkil4999d ago

Wow! Sony spent almost the whole gen working on GT5 and then this game comes out of nowhere and KILLS it in one fell swoop. So embarrasing :(

jrisner4999d ago

GT5 will still be amazing but, yea I would still rather play F1 any day of the week.

Hoje03084999d ago

No, although I will buy both, you can't even compare the content this has to GT5. I love F1 more than any other form of racing, but I know that F1 2010 will take a backseat come November 2nd. But, I really shouldn't waste my time responding to such a stupid post from such an obvious troll. Remember, your post history is visible to others.

jrisner4999d ago

what am i trolling in this post? I know I will enjoy GT5 but I prefer to play F1 games. Looks like your e-tough guy is showing.

Hoje03084999d ago

I'm 5.2, which means I wasn't responding to you. Looks like your blind guy is showing.

aaron58294999d ago

ive said it before...

the trolls in here say the same thing over and over again...

it always makes me wonder, if it's the same guy..

F1 2010 vs F1 2011 vs F1 2014 vs F1 2015 comparison

Team VVV writes: "To follow up on our recent F1 2011 vs F1 2015 video, we decide to go one step further and put four iterations of Codemasters' F1 titles side by side for comparison purposes and for a little fun too.

We have F1 2010 running at the top left for the Xbox 360, F1 2011 at the top right also for the Xbox 360, the bottom left is last year's F1 2014 for the Playstation 3 and of course F1 2015 running on the Playstation 4 completes the foursome in the bottom right video."

Gonna have to be a big f1 fan to purchase, as PCars has f1 racing?

ABBAJESUS3240d ago

There is career mode and all the teams, tracks and drivers so yeh this gets my money cos im big f1 fan

deklore3240d ago

There is no career mode. You get to play as one driver for one season as often as you like. I think its called championship mode.

ABBAJESUS3240d ago

@deklore, it's pro season mode or something like that.

jay23240d ago

Mate this is a proper F1 game, all the teams, drivers, tracks, rules etc. so get the real thing over the amazing porject cars for a true f1 experance.

The F1 Series Needs A Pit Stop

Steve from Gamespresso argues that it's time for Codemasters to stop releasing new F1 games annually, stating that they should either add new liveries and licences to existing games as DLC, or not release a game at all.

F1 2015 is going to be released Q1 2015. It is going to be "true" next gen game codies say. Over 2 years they have worked on that game. If it fails ..

Akuma2K3523d ago

The author of the article seems mad for whatever reasons that don't make any sense, the F1 racing series is a very popular which has had great success is sales from 2010 to now.

Can't wait to play F1 2015 in march/april if not mistaken (game is suppose to come out a month or so early before the F1 season starts).

mattritchiegspresso3523d ago

It certainly has had great success, and that's not surprising, but that doesn't mean that we should agree with essentially the same cash-grab being shipped out year after year, regardless of how good it is.

memots3523d ago

Got 2010, 2012 , 2013 , skipping 2014 just nothing new in there, 2015 is the true next gen
