This week’s Sunday Special takes a journey back as early as 1977 to find the Top Ten Console Launch Titles. Do you remember the Atari 2600’s launch (October 1977), or the arrival of SEGA Mega-Drive (October 1988)? And more importantly do you remember the games that were available at launch? This week, Electronic Theatre’s Sunday Special focuses on those games that made a major statement at launch.
Some titles out there focus on introducing a bizarre turn in their narrative. Check out this list for some solid recommendations for those.
"INSIDE" was bloody amazing, and I miss Uncharted's sci-fi and paranormal aspects greatly.
I remember being particularly confused by the twist in LA Noire where Cole Phelps is sort of "exposed". If you've played it you know what I'm talking about. It always felt weird and odd because the player is Cole Phelps. How can the player not know about these sorts of things happening with their own character? I felt like it came out of nowhere.
Is Twelve Minutes on that list? Because IT HAS TO BE ON THAT LIST!
Don’t spoiler yourself with that humongous twist :D
According to insider sources, a Halo Combat Evolved remaster is in development and being considered for launch on PS5.
So the better version will be on PS5 with VR, haptic feedback, 4k, HDR and so on? Can we ban Xbox owners from buying the PS5 version? Put a requirement to have a psn log in to play it.
Why do these news websites keep labeling RUMORS as "Report"? Why even have the word "Report" in the title at all? It's like they are faking an announcement to get more clicks
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
Mario64 better be there.
Good list. PS2 had the worst launch line-up ever, but it's the best console of all time.
Note: Motorstorm was a launch title only in Europe.
We early American adopters were playing R:FOM for three and a half months before we got this bad boy.
Definitely would have put Mario 64 at number one. Would have put Twilight Princess for Wii on instead of Wii Sports. Would have put Resistance on instead of MotorStorm, would have put Halo 1 higher on the list, propbably number 2, would have definitely put on Soul Calibur (where the hell is it!?!?). Etc. I thought this list would be pretty straightforward and would be tough to neglect the stand-outs and so forth, and yet somehow they managed to completely screw it up in my opinion haha.
Ive been gaming for 20 years and the SNES IMO is the best of all time
then the Ps2
