Kinect and Playstation Move, Amazon ranks

Here are the ranks of the motion-controls so far. This was taken
2010-09-02 at 08:40 in the morning, UK time. As it say in the post, this is, if anything, an indication of the Move doing very well so far. Kinect isn't being released in another two months.

Talk to us 2 months after Kinect's release. See if any one still plays it after finding out the hard way that the thing doesn't deliver quite the way you imagined it would. Then your mini games and shovelware on rails doesn't interest you any more.

Yes it was useless as well. Although, at least they were comparing re-orders for two products that would hit shelves on months. WHile here, it's comparing a product that is being released right now versus a nother one in two months. Anyway, all the trolling on N4G about sales is pathetic, from both camps.

Move is out in a couple of weeks, Kinect isn't out for a few months. It's just common knowledge that preorders ramp up as you get closer to the release, so these stats are utter pointless.

I'd also argue that one retailer (no matter how big) isn't anything more than a vague gauge of demand.

Most Sony products have a long tail, I don't see the Move being any different. It's just another controller solution that people can buy if and when they want.

I don't see first day sales being crazy high.

Amazon sales stats are a meaningful enough sample. However, with the release dates of these systems so far apart, comparing the number of pre-orders is completely pointless and silly.

Since the release of kinect is further out than move, you can't really compare the numbers, as most people wait to see what deals other retailers have before pre-ordering.

Still not no.1 even when its close to release, Move really looks to be a sales failure. Kinect has been in the top 100 since it was announced meaning its constantly gaining sales, Move only just popped up so their sales can't compare.

When Kinect releases I can see it doing what Move has sold WW at the time, day one in just NA.

Vastly superior? Technically yes. A real gamer doesn't judge a console by a few sexy features such as blu-ray and a crappy web browser... And yes Sony has more first party exclusives then 360, but quantity doesn't translate to quality to most gamers (Gamers buying games usually talks about quality, and in that category how many PS3 exclusives have outsold 360 exclusives?).

What about:
Party chats? Movie parties? Leaderboards for all downloadable games? Buying games over the web, not just through the console? Retro gaming from Intellivision, Activision, Konami, and Atari? Achievement support for all XBLA and Retail games shipped ever on the system? 360 does not require installs after download, unlike the PS3 saving gamers time. Download patches for 360 never exceed a few seconds saving gamers time. My PS3 is constantly annoying me with firmware upgrades. How about an easily removable hard drive so you can go from console to console with your game profile, saves, and DLC content easier? What about gaming community sites like MyGamerCard, TrueAchievements, etc. Gaming is more then just blu-ray and a web browser.

Technically the PS3 is superior. When it comes to the whole package I don't think the consoles aren't as far apart as you like to think.

If true, then what? Are you going to be dropping some moves with that Dance game? Smashing red balls and jumping up and down? Or Maybe you'll be stroking your eyepet thing like that little Asian girl. Assuming that you're at least a teenager, what do you have to gain with a peripheral that doesn't work probably and doesn't support its core audience? 360 trolls are a breed close to extinction, give it up.

Why is it that when Sony fanboys make lists of games to be released in their consoles they always include every piece of sh*t game coming out in the console. Why not make lists of games that actually matter... that people are interested in.

Heavy Rain is out ... who cares that a Move patch is coming... i don't. Played, finished and sold the game.

Well said this is like comparing GT5 pre orders to reach if they were out on the same day then yes lets compare. But what people need to remember pre orders are not sales so look at how many moves have been sold in the first week of its release then wait until Kinect is out for a week and compare numbers if you are really that bothered.

At the end of the day if you are a gamer you really dont care how well sales are doing as long as you like what you buy. Some people like move some people don't and its the same for Kinect and Wii.

Ive been saying this since E3 and it is not because I dont like move its because of the games they are showing off for it are just ds3 ports or just like wii games.

unless Sony release some 1st party games to show off what move can do over the wii and Kinect it will not sell very well to anyone who has not got a ps3.
