Much-loved webcomic and gaming culture commentator Penny Arcade has come out in defence of THQ's recent comments to CVG condemning the second-hand games market.
Alex & Mike talk Biomutant, a game from Experiment 101/THQ Nordiq you likely have not heard of. While the AAA side of the industry tends to homogenization and imitative, cinematic presentation, “AA” games remain creative and innovative in 2021. Drawing on inspirations as varied as Dark Souls, third person shooters & kung fu cinema, Biomutant is Ratchet & Clank on acid, developed by a team of 20 people.
Remember THQ? They published such games as Avatar: The Last Airbender, Darksiders I & II, the Destroy All Humans series, Homefront, the Red Faction series, and Saint's Row 1-3. Almost as famous as their games were the THQ marketing stunts, including a Golden Wii.
PlaySation gamers are in for a treat today! Not only did Sony roll out its “Double Discount” PlayStation Store sale, but there’s also a THQ Humbe Bundle PS4 discount happening too!
The reason these developers are out of line right now is because they are passing the blame to the consumers. The fact is that used game retailers are stealing from the developers, not the consumers.
The developers have attacked and sued used game retailers for years because they weren't paying developers a share of the profits. The developers said they were stealing and were thieves yet still lost in court. Now they are attacking the consumers because they couldn't get the real pirates to pay. Although the courts say it's okay I find it unethical for these used game companies to refuse them a share. Why? They are hurting new game sales.

I just submitted my own opinion piece on this very subject and... well, let's just say I am in complete DISAGREEMENT with these guys.
