Molyneux hints at Fable 3 in 3D

VideoGamer.com writes "Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has dropped strong hints that the PC edition of Fable III will ship with support for Nvidia's 3D Vision Surround - enabling the game to be played on three screens in full 3D.

Speaking over lunch to VideoGamer.com at gamescom, Molyneux asked for suggestions of what to go and see in the spare 30 minutes he had at the end of the day. Nvidia's 3D Vision Surround technology was my suggestion, prompting hints of 3D support in Molyneux's PC edition of Fable III."

Molyneux "hints" at everything.

Have to wonder if MS will even put Fable 3 on the PC. Did they do t with 2?

Christopher5414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

Yeah. He's also hinted at it being revolutionary, something never done before, and integrated with Kinect.

And, unfortunately, Fable 2 was not on PC. One of the reasons, IMHO, it saw dwindling sales overall (the first Fable sold over 4m on PC alone) and why they're making sure to put the third pack on the PC.

Trey_4_life5414d ago

LOL fable is a horrid game, making it 3d seems like a way to make a poor childish action adventure game better than it is, and they can only do it on the pc version too, LOL. Back to deamons souls for me.

T9X695413d ago

@Trey_4_life Demons Soul's was a great game, but personally I enjoyed Fable more.

hakis865414d ago

or maybe even PS3 (but that won't happen).

The 360 can only deliver the "Avatar game type 3D" experience, as far as I know. Not at all the same as stereoscopic 3D in HD.

Elven65413d ago

Avatar on 360, PS3, and PC does use Stereoscopic 3D, you just need an HDMI connection and a TV that supports 120 Hz.

hakis865413d ago (Edited 5413d ago )

When and where was it announced that the 360 can output stereoscopic 3D images?
I know that PC's can, I know that the PS3 can, I know that the 360's hmdi is too old.

ji32005413d ago

MITSUBISHI 3D READY 60INCH TV IS ONLY $799 DOLLAR WITH FREE SHIPPING AT TIGERDIRECT WEBSITE. SO WHY PEOPLE SAYING 3D TV IS EXPENSIVE????? SET THE 3D DEPTH TO 60 PERCENT COMPARE TO AMC THEATER WHICH IS ONLY 15 PERCENT. DIFFERENCE IS DAY AND NIGHT!!!!!! YOU GUYS ARE MISSING OUT HOW MUCH DIFFERENCE AT HOME AND THEATER!!!!

CombatEvolving5414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

Damn, I wish I could afford three 3D monitors. Hopefully people read more than the title, otherwise things are about to get ugly.

CaptainMarvelQ85414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

360 version not gettin' any?
i heard people say that xbox was capable of 3d
but guess not

Fishy Fingers5414d ago

Nice edit, slightly less childish now. The 360 can display in 3D in one way or another, I'm not sure of the specifics, but Crysis 2 for example is 3D on all platfoms.

Megaton5414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

Crysis 2 isn't a very good example. I was watching a vid at GameTrailers around E3, and Shane Satterfield had said something about many people leaving the Crysis 2 3D demo without actually even noticing any 3D effects.

Possibly one of the reasons for the delay.

Elven65413d ago

James Cameron's Avatar: The Game and Invincible Tiger are games on the 360 out now that support various 3D modes.

CombatEvolving5414d ago

It supposedly can be done with Kinect, but the game has no Kinect support and it will probably be a while before they do anything meaningful with Kinect.

krisq5414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

What?
I guess the edit has changed the meaning of your post.

Fishy Fingers5414d ago

How would kinect help render a game on screen in 3D? It has no way possibly effect on the 360s video output. I believe it's the HDMI specifics that the console uses compared to the PS3 that is the main problem.

But like I said about, they're is obviously some way around this through software if Crytek have it working, might require it to be built into the engine early on though.

CombatEvolving5414d ago (Edited 5414d ago )

I guess Kinect is used to make an effect similar to the 3DS's 3D from what I've heard. It works for up to two people with no glasses required.

That last part was a joke, but it has been said Kinect can do some kind of 3D, just not sure how exactly.

Fishy Fingers5414d ago

I think your confusing kinect with separate tech MS have been toying with (a new form of screen). Kinect has no way to effect the consoles video output, nor beam images into your eyes.

http://www.physorg.com/news...

I think this^^ is what you mean, which has nothing directly related to the 360 or kinect, its a new design of TV/monitor panel, using a lens to manipulate light.

krisq5413d ago (Edited 5413d ago )

I'm pretty sure he meant something like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watc...

In this case it's using accelerometer and 2d camera.

The PC version will probably support it, it's all pretty simple for them.

Peter Molyneux recalls how Project Milo, the Kinect game with revolutionary promise, died a death

Vapourware can end up being the stuff of legend, like Rockstar's Agent, Star Wars 1313, or StarCraft: Ghost. Without ever seeing the light of day, these games never risked the possibility of being played and forgotten, and instead live on forever as the subjects of lengthy YouTube essays.

Still, Molyneux's most notable lost game (or tech demo, depending on who you asked at the time) was arguably Project Milo.

I can see the potential of the kinect hardware... its rather impressive tech, but it was just not meant to be for gaming. If anything, MS had a huge missed opportunity to have used it for the AR/VR projects.

S2Killinit25d ago

Missed opportunity? They lied. It was the biggest lie in gaming history.

merlox25d ago

You can use the Kinect as an SLS camera for paranormal investigations. So it wasn’t a complete failure.

Cacabunga25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

It was built on lies Peter...you know this.

isarai26d ago

Bro that thing NEVER existed, what we got was a concept video

Knushwood Butt26d ago

"Unfortunately, as we were developing Milo, so the Kinect device was being developed. And they realised that the device that Alex Kipman first showed off would cost $5,000 for consumers to buy.

"So they cost-reduced that device down to such a point, where the field-of-view...I think it was a minuscule field-of-view. In other words, it could only just see what's straight in front of you."

Hmm, exactly what tech was in it, that was cut, affected the development? It was only ever interpreting visual and audio inputs right? The xbox was processing those inputs.

Nor do I see how the field of view thing is relevant to the discussion.

isarai26d ago

Exactly! Tf kinda BS statement was that? i don't really see how fov is relevant at all, since when do you move all around a room while talking/interacting to someone?

Amplitude25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

This is entirely untrue. There was never a 5000 dollar Kinect prototype that could somehow use a wider field of view to scan and import generated in-game items and advance AI by over a decade. Anybody that fell for this was a stupid moron child, myself included. Anybody that falls for this lie now is a stupid moron child who doesn't realize that these people *only* know how to lie.

Is It Time To Trust Peter Molyneux Again?

Masters of Albion is already promising, but can we trust Peter Molyneux to not let us down again?

I came here to say that I don't want to hear any grand standing or over promises, and I was not left disappointed when I read: "Molyneux has “kept very quiet” about the project as he wanted to “let the game speak for itself”.

Perfect.

Cacabunga300d ago

Milo and Kate 😆
Stellar lie

DivineHand125300d ago

Project Milo could not have been released even if it existed. Why would a grown man want to simulate talking to young kids?

Profchaos300d ago

No he hasn't done anything to earn it if he actually delivers a fun competent game that's different

DiRtY299d ago

Come on, you can hate him for overpromising, but he made some fun games.
Fable I and II were awesome, as was theme park or Dungeon Keeper.

OldDuffer299d ago

Unfortunately its the haters who will always set the agenda on any such discussion. Peter is a visionary who delivered some exceptional games and invented genres. I consider myself blessed to have worked at Bullfrog and seen such creativity up close. The fact he over promissed on several projects later in his career is hardly an issue limited to just him, and certainly does not undo the huge legacy he has.
I was impressed by the showing at the event, and Im pleased to see he's learnt to shutup and just deliver a game. Maybe one two people can let go of the hate if he delivers on this project, but I doubt it - people love to hate.

CrimsonIdol299d ago

Amen. I respect Peter as a dreamer of interesting and grand ideas. Those who remember the golden years of Bullfrog knows how interesting their games were (and still remain) and the glorious feel of manipulating all the little simulation mechanics. If you understand many of his promises were "wouldn't it be cool if" hypotheticals that were strived for but ultimately not achieved (ie the realities of game dev) it makes far more sense than him being deliberately misleading.

Psychonaut85300d ago

No. Too many other developers who HAVEN’T scammed people and lied to our face for two decades. Don’t have time to listen to this dude anymore. If it’s good, good for those people that like that type of game. I still won’t ever trust him.

Plague-Doctor27300d ago

One of the dumbest questions I've ever heard. Guy hasn't told the truth in over 20 years

DodoDojo300d ago

Exactly, the dude likes to suck his own D and talk everything up.

Psychonaut85297d ago

I’m curious who the dislikes are on our comments. Either people old enough to have some deeeeeeep love for Black and White and Populous, or young enough to not know what a massive huckster Molyneux is. He’s the M.Night Shyamalan of game directors. Did a couple good things early on and somehow has managed to ride that for decades.

Peter Molyneux's new game is set in Fable's Albion

Project currently codenamed MOAT.

JusttJD0099613d ago

M.O.A.T

Misleader of all time?

jznrpg613d ago (Edited 613d ago )

It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil

Obscure_Observer612d ago

"It’s between him and Phil. I’d vote Phil"

If Phil were the man that made my life miserable, I would vote for him as well.

Regarding the topic, it could be both Peter and Phil working together.

M.O.A.T takes place in Albion, so it´s possible that Pete is working on new partnership with Xbox, which imo, is nothing but great news!

GhostScholar612d ago

What exactly has Phil mislead about? I can’t wait to hear the verbal diarrhea you come with.

Becuzisaid613d ago

Wait.

His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?

jznrpg613d ago

If anyone knows his name you have to be extremely skeptical that what he delivers will be anything like what he says it would be and that’s best case scenario.

RaiderNation613d ago

He's like the "Tom Clancy" of video games.

InUrFoxHole613d ago

Lol what the hell man?!?!?

ZycoFox613d ago

I remember Black & White (PC) but other than that I can only think of Fable, B&W was a pretty cool game tho at the time.

sagapo613d ago

Populous was another one designed by Peter, released before B&W, godlike game as well, pretty good too.

Giblet_Head613d ago

I quite liked Magic Carpet growing up.

Obscure_Observer612d ago (Edited 612d ago )

"His name is still used as a selling point for new games? Seriously?"

The guy is a gaming legend for gamers who actually knows and played his games, like Dungeon Keeper, Populous, Black & White and Fable for example.

Becuzisaid612d ago

I'm certain that most who actually know who he is would contest your use of legend. He's the living, human embodiment of false advertising.

Obscure_Observer612d ago

@Becuzisaid

There´s an abyss between false advertisement and bad games.

Most gamers will get excited for games from great gaming creators rather than focus on their exaggerated promises.

Kojima described his Xbox exclusive game as "very unusual like no one has ever experienced before, leveraging the cloud." He said all publishers he presented the project, called him mad and rejected his game but Microsoft, because it´s too crazy.

Is Kojima exaggerating? Obviously. It´s gonna be a bad game? Hardly.

Imagine a game where Peter Molyneux presents an extraordinary set of ideas that players will enjoy for years to come. Now imagine that this particular game will come out because it will never exist.

Profchaos613d ago

Does Milo live under a bridge there

shinoff2183613d ago

Captain overseller is returning. Ain't heard his name in years.
