For me, Dragon Quest is sort of like Final Fantasy’s tag team partner. Both Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest - then known as Dragon Warrior - were the first real RPG franchises to get me hooked on the genre. While both have had a storied past and each have gone their own separate directions, they also both hold a special place in my heart. We are now on Dragon Quest’s ninth entry in the franchise (not counting the many spin-offs), and don’t let the fact that it’s sitting on Nintendo’s handheld fool you, Dragon Quest still has the RPG chops to hang with any of the big boys, including the likes of Mass Effect and Dragon Age."
Dragon Quest IX was a quality JRPG, but it is only available on the DS, when every other game in the series has been ported to other platforms.
I'd love to play this. Couple things keep that from happening. I don't like portable gaming. I don't think my hands are huge but I bought a 3ds for braverly default and my fingers would cramp up after 20 30 minutes. Kinda killed it for me.
I hope they do port it but port it to everything. Not just the switch or whatever. I'm still salty about dragon quest treasure hunters being switch only. I really wanted that. I loved dq11. I know it's a different type of game but I like those types to
its the same with dragon quest 8 on the 3ds
i wanted the remaster for consoles too.
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "The little handheld that could was a dream for role-playing game fans, with both major blockbusters and cult-classics making the DS a handheld you always wanted to have in your backpack. "
The future could be filled with revived Nintendo DS classics. Hopefully it happens!
My kid yesterday proclaimed he liked the DS more than the Switch because the controls work on the go. Then I asked if he would rather have Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Steam or Switch and he chose Steam. So proud!
