Ripten.com cuts through the hype and gives you their review of Madden 08 for the 360 and PS3.
They promise you won't confuse this with the hype-laden reviews better suited for the back of the box.
Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "When it comes to video game lineups none get as much as attention as the launch lineup that accompany a new piece of hardware. But what about the last games? That's the topic for this week's Top 10 as we'll be looking at the very last games to grace their respective consoles. "
I remember buying FFIX on PSN because I was looking for swan song PS1 titles to enjoy on PS3
10 Years Ago This Month: Sony's sales pitch as the powerful system took a hit when EA had to explain why Madden 08 on PS3 was noticeably worse than the Xbox 360 version.
The cpu was hard to work for 3rd party, butt the cell was really powerfull and fast. It wasnt just pr or secret sauce. Uc2 and killzone 2 were amazing. But 3rd party want money. They also problems with the ram. Only first party was able to make huge jumps from first gen games to second gen. It was an expensive console but the tech was much more powefull at launch then this gen.
Wasn't this already established in 2006? Online Sony's first party studios took advantage of the cell.
" was PS3 hard to Develop for?"
Here we go again , they been saying this since mid 2006-2007ish . of course the CPU was hard to work with but the Cell was fast and powerful .
Next year Article : " was PS4 to Easy Develop for ?" slow day in office ?
P.S . over last few years N4G been Repeating same subject matter with Slightly different title, same old subject .
I would hate to be a writer busting my brain to come up with a New lie to draw readers interest end up repeating 2006 article again .
I would not say "hard" to develope... but it went against the norm and it also threatened a well established pc archetype of which many in the pc business was against. Not with ill intent, but to try and change the way digital hardware works... it is huge mountain to climb against a well established pc design.
A lot of third party studios kind of just did not try because they did not want to support the change.
It went beyond just gaming with the backlash of sonys cell design.
Sony has always tried to push innovation and sometimes they miss or go to far against the norm and fail. Like betamax vs VHS. Betamax was the superior hardware but they lost that battle as well.
It is why Microsoft created the competition. They were getting beat in so many ways and their monopoly was getting threatened by everyone. Apple, Google, etc etc. Microsoft had to fight back to try save their dwindling sales. Lose the hardware, you lose the os.
Luke looks at the most influential features of Madden on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Without having played the game this review seemed to be decent and well balanced. They noted what they liked about the game and what they didnt and scored it accordingly. In the end they did beleive APF had the better gameplay and pinged EA for having the exclusive license and limiting choice so some could say this was an APF fanboy review. However they did give this game a slightly higher rating then APF and again gave the reasons why.
I have never heard of the site but the review seemed reasonable. The Yahoo 5 out of 5 review seemed a little less so since they gave it 5 out of 5 while noting issues like the lame announcer and no online leagues. If its not perfect, why does it get a perfect score?
choppy choppy choppy....wats new?
"Both versions scored lower on the PS3 due to frame rate issues."...
How the heck, can the PS3 version have "frame rate issues" running only at 30FPS.... and not the xbox 360 at 60FPS?
9 months after the released on the PS3 and probably more than 1 year with the SDKs and developers are still having problem with the PS3.
Yeah, Yeah we know... developers are lazy and they make the PS3 version suck on purpose... bla bla bla... Maybe Sony should have done a better job at making their SDK easier to develope for, base on the developers that were going to use their tools. Anyways, regarless of who's fault it is. The fact is, if a game is released on the XBox 360 and the PS3 at the same time; expect the XBox 360 version to be better. That's already Proven.
I have NCAA Football on the PS3 and I don't notice much choppiness. My friend has it on the 360 and he claims that it's very choppy. He's going to bring his 360 over so we can each play the other versions to see if there is a difference.
you guys really need to realize that developers arent gimping there games in favor of another console. its a known fact that the PS2 made EA way more cash than the xbox 1 but the xbox 1 versions of the same game differently looked better on xbox 1 than they did on PS2, why? because the xbox 1 allowed for that to happen. it had more power. but whats different this time around, do you guys REALLY feel that the PS3 is way more powerful than the 360. I dont think the PS3 is at all more powerful than the 360 because there games aint showing it.
ask yourself this!! how can a game designed on the 360 first( running on 360 system specs) not look as good or run as good running on a supposedly more powerful system (PS3) but you can take a game built for the PS3 first(running on PS3 specs) an make it run an look better on a supposidly WEAKER system(360). now how do you explain that!! simple, because the 360 allows for more GAMING POWER than the PS3.
VF5 was built with the PS3 in mind, has it not been said that the 360 version looks better than the PS3 version. how!! I guess SEGA was being lazy when they made the PS3 version.
95% of all multiplat games look better an run better on the 360, so I guess 95% of all developers get lazy when it comes to the PS3. guys just listen to yourselves. PITYFUL!!
majority of all the new next gen multiplat games been showed is being showed on the 360. AC,Stranglehold,GTA,COD4. WHY? being a developer I want to show of my BEST work, an so far their BEST WORK comes from the 360. hate it all you want but its the truth!!
I have a PS3 an I havent turned it on in a few weeks now!! I wonder why.
