Ex: Earlier we revealed the game-changing update being developed for NaturalMotion's Backbreaker. The patch, more resembling an expansion, brings several new gameplay features to the table, 110+ new offensive and defensive plays, and a myriad of other tweaks and enhancements requested by the game's loyal fanbase.

The update is now live, and we've got some fresh screenshots of the Greathouse update.

I think I'll just wait for Backbreaker 2. It's a nice try but didn't feel fully baked when it was released and an expansion patch the week before the release of Madden won't likely change much for this game.

I really dig all the things that Backbreaker brought to the genre. I'd like to see Madden pick up on them though.. I'm not too keen on the idea of no-name teams. Either that.. or Maddens supreme reign over the genre needs to end. NFL needs to expand to other titles as well.

Backbreaker was a big disappointment --just like every football game that tries to challenge Madden.

Backbreaker was visionary! they had the guts to take football in an entirely new direction...and I think it's a shame EA Tiburon doesn't serve their community the same way Naturalmotion serves theirs.

I just can't go back to the norm after those tackles! It is almost...dare I say...BORING to play NCAA or Madden. I often physically cringe when I am about to lay a hit or get hit myself. I can't remember the last time I did that with Madden. Ultimately, I just think that Madden needs a complete re-tooling. I think I just got bored of the same mechanics, whether tweaked or not, over and over each year. It's burnout. Rumor has it that 2K has a football game, that they have been working on since AP2K8, just waiting for that exclusive license to expire. I am all for competition to force everybody to innovate and create a truly great game and not just one that I am compelled to buy because I love the NFL.

EA is a big disappointment, with no football competition because of the nfl license madden has been rehashed year after year adding so called new additions that's already been in previous games and people continue beleiving EA's marketing hype each year thinking the game will be better and still buy the game knowing nothing has changed. The player models and gameplay in madden are still in the stone age, nothing is "next gen" about madden....the only thing that's truly "in the game" are the team rosters and logos.

Pretty sad to see how the BB developers improve the game in one patch in their first time out making a new football game, when it's been what 8+ years with EA and madden is still madden.

Backbreaker is a true "next gen" game and THE new football standard, forget the nfl license because it doesn't make a football game great....only good gameplay makes a gamer keep coming back for more when it comes to true football realism.

couldn't have said it better myself.

backbreakers was great i wish they offer more thought, im going to get it over madden, first for me since 04
they need to be supported more, look at what they just did, listened to the fans and gave them what they want, thats what i want from developers. madden needs to have its house clean and just start all over

Dellis5440d ago

If they were smart they would sell their Engine and entire company to 2K SPORTS, who are working on a football game if you didn't know.

doshey5440d ago

doesnt matter who makes a football game, no one cares if it doesnt have the nfl teams, pretty much how it work

I like 505 and Natural Motion more. 2K would never make a patch like this for free. I've never seen a developer work more closely with the community than 505 and Natural Motion did with this patch.

Sounds great, can't wait to try it out.

Simon Mack: The Advantages of Developing for Mobile

Gamesauce says: "Simon Mack, CTO of NaturalMotion, knew at an early age that he wanted a career in software development but, although he grew up playing games, he never considered the possibility of working in the games industry. While he was studying at his university, a friend introduced him to a company called MathEngine and the physics simulation middleware they were making. He says, “I was blown away—this was unlike anything I had seen before and more advanced than I had thought possible. I got an internship there and was hooked.”
