The Ways Alan Wake Is Unrealistic

Shadow-possessed people are not the only unrealistic elements of celebrated Xbox 360 game Alan Wake.

chidori6665437d ago

The Game is not fun. It was designed as a book, which makes it horrible. The game has ok graphics but you shouldnt get it just for graphics cuz theres no point to buying a game for just graphics.

knight6265437d ago

i wont say this game is awful or bad...it has its fun parts in the start of the game...u shoot people with a flashlight and guns and u run around. thats mostly it...mayb the best part is the story its going to keep u playing it like i said before it gets repatitave because all u do is run and run aim light at a shadow or object who is possessed and u run again aim light shoot them with a gun nothing new here but ill give this a rental for anyone looking to play this game

mrcash5437d ago

You just described most of the shooters out there lol, This game is definitely worth buying, remedy did an amazing job setting the mood for this game, the environment really comes to life. This game is not for everyone, just like heavy rain wasn't.. But if you enjoyed heavy rain and have both consoles be sure to pick it up the story is in the same league as HR.

InfectedDK5437d ago

No matter if it's realistic or not..
It's unbelieveable they made this game for 5 years and it has only sold 600.000 copies.. I think that is unrealistic and fail.. :S
It should have sold 1.0 - 1.5 or something by now..

N4GAddict5437d ago

I thought it was pretty good.

Paradicia5437d ago

Videogames are not realistic?

Holy shi-- .. thats news to me.

blizzard_cool5437d ago

I kno, right, like since when?

Darkstorn5437d ago

Wait, why are they detailing how it is unrealistic? I never played the game, but does it actually strive for realism? I think not.

Alan Wake was great. possibly one of the best story driven games this generation. shame because I honestly don't think the mindset of the 360 audience grasps the kind of game this was meant to be nor do most people understand that. It's like advance literature to some degree and not everyone gets that stuff.

Proof, look at helghan666 above - "It was designed as a book, which makes it horrible." - that's just sad dude...I guess you don't read books then huh? Expand your mind bro.

Anyway, Alan Wake was a great game. I loved every second of it and for a cliffhanger ending, I was surprised to like such an ending.

Lightsaber5437d ago

Well I cant speak for all of the 360 owns buy I loved the game. However It was pretty short and had no real replay value so I didnt buy it. However I still think its GOTY

mrcash5437d ago

Yeah the game was really great, I really enjoyed it.

CrazyOrange5437d ago

i took me at least 13 or 14 hours to beat the game, first time on hard.

and its not short compard to games like uncharted 1, heavy rain, heavnly sowrd, beyonetta bioshock 2 and tomb raider (talkin about only single player games)

crzyjackbauer5437d ago

for me its a GOTY title
i guess people dont like it cuz its not made for the general public
its more for fans of alone in the dark or silent hill

its not you common generic shooter like all developers are trying to do these days, that's why it hasent sold much

Sez 5437d ago

I agree this was by far one of the best games I played this gen. I'm glad I didn't listen to reviews and picked up this game. I enjoyed the story. Sad that many 360 owners didn't support this game. I do hope MS and remedy make a part two. I think with some more work and better advertisment on MS part the second one could do better. IMO GOTY

Eric Barrier5437d ago

I am playing through the game right now and it is fantastic so far. I have nothing to complain about the game. I am however only halfway through. The way the game is presented is superb.

SPOILER: End of the first chapter of the game, simply amazing

It is unrealistic because it is a game. If you want it to be realistic, well, go step out your door.

Motorola5437d ago

OMG THE SKY IS SO REAL lol jk

N4GAddict5437d ago (Edited 5437d ago )

Yeah, being unrealistic is a plus.

MeatAbstract5437d ago

Exactly, was gonna say the same thing myself. It doesn't need to be realistic, for fuck sake you're a sleep deprived dude battling monsters in a dark forest. Cause thats really 'real'.

Acquiescence5437d ago

Just where in the hell is he storing all of those coffee thermos'.

Alos885437d ago

It's a game where you run away from shadowy monsters and use a flashlight as your main weapon. Would you expect realism from Silent Hill?

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran8429d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto428d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia429d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger429d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie428d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

Profchaos428d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie428d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh428d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

A thermos is upending the Alan Wake community

Remedy has Alan Wake merch on sale, including a pretty blue thermos. Unfortunately, things haven’t gone according to plan, and many players who want a thermos find themselves without one, though it does appear that Remedy is attempting to fix things. Nevertheless, it has resulted in a lot of upset, illustrating just how much the thermos means to Alan Wake fans.
