XMB To Support "Chatroom" Feature

A snapshot has showed up in the PSU forums of a PS3's XMB layout, but not just any ordinary shot. This shot shows a "Chatroom" feature underneath the friends icon section of the cross media bar. The question is whether this is an early preview or really good photoshop work. As usual we will all wait for a debunk or confirmation from Sony themselves.

Its not a photoshoped image. I have a similar image because I made a similar argument before.

You can find that feature in the early PS3 kiosk in stores. Although, when you click it says its not functional.

although, I didn't realize it before its also on the XMB when you are engaged on a chat with different people.

if ur talking to someone in a chatroom and push the PS button u will see this icon.

its not a Firmware update or anything, its like that now. Its just not "chat" like IRC. It is a voice chat room. its been like this forever. Just try sending a chat invite to a friend press the PS button and its on your menu. So not fake just someone thats really stupid

its not a photoshop if you go to your local game store (GameStop, EBGames) and look at there PS3 units they have had Chat Room in the friends list since the day the system launched. Just waiting to see if it gets put into the customers systems:)

This just in: the voice chat feature on the PS3 allows your voice to actually be heard from thousands of miles away when you speak directly into the microphone. wow! wtf?

Dude this has been around forever I've just never seen this icon on the XBM for it. but this has been around pretty much since launch. If you go to your nearest game store with a ps3 demo th XMB also has this.

now as to it being a real messenger type deal, naw, but in the near future who knows you may be able to send messages to your friends from your psp with future updates

hahahah yeah...why do so many people think this is fake?...everytime you do a voice chat with someone on your list, you can press the PS button to bring the xmb back up to look at photos/videos/browser or whatever, and to get back to the voice chat "screen" (you can still be talking outside of the chat room screen) you scroll to that icon...it only shows up when a voice chat is going on...its not there always...

i can vouche that it is true, i went to my local walmart this morning and checked out the ps3, if you do, you will see the same thing, but i did notice that the firmware on it was 1.60??? so i dont know what that means then???

Wow do people not read in here, this is not photoshopped, this is old and has been there all this time, when you make a chatroom just press the PS button and look under friends and it will say CHAT ROOM. Please if anyone else comes in here and post, please read before posting.

Please nobody else say this is fake, please if you have any friends on ur psn just invite them to a chat and once they join, press the ps button and in your friends list you will see the chat room picture, lol, It's on every ps3 console, not just store demonstration ones

Chatrooms would be awesome.. especially the ability to connect to any IRC network that exists, that would totally own! Have made some friends while playing UT2004 and only place I can really talk to them is IRC so if they had it on PS3 I wouldn't even need to be by my PC anymore except for doing homework >.<

sending messages back and forth to individuals is too time-consuming and tedious. It'd be nice to be able to send a message to at least 5~10 people at once.
