New Xbox 360 Shuts Down Automatically

The issue of xbox 360 overheating have been the norm with old model 360's, but is the new revised slim console free of this curse?

I recently experience my slim 360 shutting down when it seemed to be under duress, after a few solid hours play.

There was no warning message, the console just shut down. Is this a fail safe that microsoft has employed to stop the box getting too hot and warping/damaging the inner components. Could be a problem in the future.

The main issue with this is that my Xbox was shutting down without displaying this error message.
