Leaked SWTOR screenshot reveals new character creation info

Apparently someone who is participating in the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta has leaked a screenshot of the character creation process which reveals some previously unreleased information, and probably information that Bioware: Austin probably did not want us to know just yet....

Hey, console guys, just to let you know, if you've never played an MMO before, this is nothing new. Don't let the Star Wars and the fancy voice acting fool you, the gameplay and combat is the same as every MMO released in the past 15 years, and believe me, it's boring as shit and you'll probably hate it after a few days. You're not missing anything.

They had a chance to make this game awesome, but they ruined it by trying to "play it safe" and pandering to the asinine casual WoW crowd.

I can't wait for this game and just because you don't like it automatically means it's crap right? People need to get over themselves. That's fine if you don't like it but I'm glad you said everyone who's never played an MMO would hate it after a few days. Glad your that in tune with the rest of the world

i think you just dont get the part that is supposed to be new and "revolutionary" .

No one made the claims that it would revolutionize the classic wow gameplay .

The different appeal for many people is the emphase on a proper campaign and storyline , as opposed to the current pve/pvp mindless grindfest , or the few games like wow with heavy questing on top , but hardly a scenario something worth going through besides killing the lich king .

It might not be much to you , but it's makes a world of difference for some people who just cant get into usual mmo ever , or not anymore .

The whole reason I stopped playing WoW and can't wait for SWTOR is the emphasis on story. I can't wait personally.....

Actually it has better combat then most mmos. Its choreographed so that lightsaber combat looks more realistic and things connect. Jedi can block blaster bolts and you can see that in some of the videos.

They should have made KOTOR3 instead of this MMO nonsense, its just a weak copy of KOTOR that you have to pay every month to play.

yea but your getting 8 unique stories....so your getting 8 KOTORS....that's what, 520 dollars worth of KOTOR (65 a story just like 65 a game). Do some research and they've said they would have some mind boggling number of hours of story in this game...all fully voiced in true Bioware fashion.

It must be the popular thing to hate on MMOs these days. Sure, it's pay to play but after 3 months it will finally be the same cost of full 65 dollar game. I don't know if 3 months for the price of a game I usually play for 1 month and drop is a good deal or not.....seems too economical for me

Oh, and to trounbyfire....if your so tired of it...then stop watching those trailers or morgan webb hype train or kinect games (I'm not a fan of Kinect or Move..why are those relevant in an SWTOR mmo story again....they aren't). Thankfully, we all have a choice of whether to watch things or follow things

You're forgetting that the game initial cost needs to be included in your number, and its a PC game so that $50 for the game and in 3 months it'll be another $45 so that $95 for 3 months of the game and $230 for a year and that's not the only problem.

The MMO genre does not exactly let you play as you want as everything is always "live", story mechanics are whittled down to something simple and with the KOTOR series story is a huge part of the game.

Also the necessity of internet connection and interaction with idiots online as well as requiring help from other players who may or may not be useful or available, as well as the repetitive grinding and gameplay with sub par graphics to allow for streamlined online gameplay all contribute to the annoyance of MMOs

Now I know SWTOR may not have all these problems but it always amazes me that people pay monthly to play games with all these short comings.

actually if you've followed the game, they have put a huge amount of time into the story and have been pimping it ever since it was announced and also they have said that they are making the game soloable and as the same as kotor, it will have companion/party characters that serve as they did in the kotor games.

Pretty much this seems to be the mmo that actually cares about the story as much as gameplay which probably wasn't very hard since they took a traditional approach to gameplay allowing them to focus one the story they have been hyping.

most currently successful mmo nowadays anyway made sure that you can solo most of the time , except for raids , and obviously pvp ...

So even with Kotor's awesome story focus , it would probably follow the trend
