Kinectimals Will Outsell Expectations

Although most of us could care less, Kinectimals, is going to outsell, surprise, and surpass our expectations. This virtual pet game that Microsoft announced at E3 this year will allow kids to train and play with up to 20 different cats, which reminds of me of another recent trend that made millions in the past few years: Webkinz.

The story is too old to be commented.

If Kinectimals sells well on the 360, current 360 gamers are in for a future of nothing that interests you.

GWAVE3962d ago

Since when did sales matter?

Didn't the "OMG! BEST STORYLINE EVER" game Alan Wake sell less than 300k?

360-ville needs to make up its mind.

RememberThe3573962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

360 fanboys have always been known for talking up sales.

EDIT: OK what? 500k isn't bad at all. And why does it seem like you guys want Alan Wake to fail? I've heard some pretty damn good things about it and I'm looking forward to getting it from GameFly.

I have the sneaking feeling that if it was a PS3 exclusive it would be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

500K worldwide for Alan Wake. Sad. I'm sure it wouldn't have flopped so bad if it was a FPS. After all, it's all they buy. Kinectimals is supposed to be a clever name obviously but it is in fact the worst name I've ever seen for a game, or just anything. If you're older than 2 years old and you're playing this, I feel bad for you.

HolyOrangeCows3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

Seriously, how many current 360-owners care? Like most 360 gamers, I joined in for the Halo and Gears of War and Call of Duty. Are THEY buying Kinectimals? Do they have enough younger siblings to ask their parents to spend $100+ and $60 so that they can play Kinect Adventures, or Kinectimals, or some stupid Yoga game? Are people going to spend over $400 for the 360 and Kinect when the Wii is so cheap?

Just like the Kin phone, they're trying to fill an already filled need. For Kin, social networking (Already filled by smarter phones that connect to Facebook and such). For KINect, it's super casual gaming (Already filled by the Wii, and for a better cost for super casuals).

Zir03962d ago

360 isn't the Wii, hardcore games will still be made for it. You really believe that MS will stop making Halos, Forzas and Fables?

If you think that then I feel sorry for you, Kinect is just giving MS a chance to broaden its audience something a lot of people said it needed to do.

As for Kinectimals I see all the games with the word Kinect in them selling well just like games with Wii in them.

LBP sold well on PS3. They seem to be doing just fine.

Same can be said with any other casual game.
"A gamer of any age can pick up that masterpiece and have fun with it."
Punch Out Wii, Red Steel, The Sims, Sim City.

@Keith Olbermann
Can you see hardcore gamers getting Move?

I played the Demo, and created a few levels at my cousin's house. I fully understand the mechanics.

"LBP had controls that actually influenced what you were doing"
And Wii games dont? I think I get what your saying. Grabbing on to ledges, moving boxes, using gravity to move objects(swinging from the top).

"waving at the screen and seen a cute animal romp around."

You are a known PS3 fanboy, so Im sure your a bit biased when it comes to a game exclusive to PS3.

Gawdl3y3962d ago

LBP isn't a casual-only game, it's awesome. A gamer of any age can pick up that masterpiece and have fun with it.

Keith Olbermann3962d ago

we will have to see how many casuals are willing to buy a 360 with kinect and then..this game. I dont see many hard core players getting this..i dont see many hard cores getting kinect period.

morganfell3962d ago

You are absolutely clueless about LBP, aren't you. I mean you are oblivious to the mechanics of that game. You would have to be to write what you did.

LBP had controls that actually influenced what you were doing. There were actual levels to run. Not just waving at the screen and seen a cute animal romp around.

NecrumSlavery3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

Aha! Morganfell,
You admit the kinectimals are adorable?

I dont see kinect selling as well it hopes just on the shear fact that it hasn't provided the hardcore community a reason to purchase it yet
I also can't see the casual community putting up $400+ bucks in a bundle. But who am I to know what people will do. I just think the casual audience won't use kinect. I for one wouldn't allow my daughter to play online, give out personal information, Facebook anything, or even be on a webcam. The 360 community has way to many pedos and immature foul mouthed people to expose my kid too that.

Independent_Charles3962d ago

comment above ^
yeas coz you would know all about that wouldnt you.

morganfell3962d ago

I am using a generic term applied by the press. In no way do I think deceptive marketing is cute.

randomwiz3962d ago

LBP is a casual platformer, like Mario. Anyone can play Mario.

Kinectimals... the only audience that will not feel like an idiot playing it are little girls or children who don't have pets. How many little girls own a 360? I'm not sure how comfortable anyone's going to be standing in front of their tv and saying "Skittles, where are you?" in a high voice.

I don't know about you, but when I start my 360 late this year, I'm going to be playing Halo Reach, not wasting my time with Kinectimals.

These type of articles are just flamebait material. No one here knows how well one thing will do or not, yet it always tends to be exclusive titles that get talked about when it comes to sales.

maawdawg3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

If you predict that Kinect will sell more than predicted, aren't you therefore raising the level of the average of all predictions with your prediction and making it less valid?

Great, now my head hurts.

EVILDEAD3603962d ago

If I was Microsoft..I'd market Kinectimals like no tommorow..You wouldn't be able to watch the cartoon network or Nikelodean without the Kinectimals ad running all day long..

I'd use MTV to market the Dance games and everybody else would get the whole package..

It'll be interesting if they see it the same way..

Sheikh Yerbouti3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

This will be just like Nintendogs.

Marceles3962d ago

Not if it's sold at retail price

The Meerkat3962d ago

My 2 year old will love this.

I'll still have Halo: Reach.

MariaHelFutura3962d ago

Oh not to worry, if Kinectimals sells extremely well. You`ll have a game where you can "stroke" Master Chief soon enough.

R2D23962d ago

You sound like you have pounderd on that for a look time. Do you need amother Nathan Drake poster to replace the wet one you have in your bathroom.

MariaHelFutura3962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

I have no idea what you even trying to say.

RememberThe3573962d ago (Edited 3962d ago )

He's saying you jerk off to a Nathan Drake poster...

He must be offended that you were talking shit about the next greatest game to ever come along.

Honestly, I have a hard time NOT trolling Kinect articles, I am so disappointed with it.

Jack Klugman3962d ago

"Honestly, I have a hard time NOT trolling Kinect articles, I am so disappointed with it. "

haha funny stuff. Ive seen you for a long time. You have no problems trolling 360 news ever dunno why it would be any different for Kinect.

Shadow Flare3962d ago

Im yet to see any actual gameplay from this title. All i've seen is the tiger mirror your actions. Jump, twist, hide........get licked and pretend to like it........has anyone seen the things you can do in eyepet? Its pretty cool and from what i've seen, kinetcimals has got a way to go to match the sort of things you can do in eyepet

Parapraxis3962d ago

What is "Expectations"? An extremely low-budget iPhone game?

Vip3r3962d ago

Oh ho!

I c wut u dyd thur.

Harry1903962d ago

Does that mean something? I thought outsell was used in conjunction with a similar item to evaluate the superiority of one product in terms of sales. An analogy or comparison. Actually, it could make sense but it really doesn't.
