iPad Was Supposed to Have a Gyroscope

A recent tear-down of the iPhone 4, in conjunction with an iPad tear-down, has revealed that the iPad already has a spot ready to plug in a gyroscope. This more or less confirms that it's coming in the next iPad, but does this also mean Apple could have included one in the current models?
