When video games are as much accepted as movies.

chuckfuxvi5475d ago

Are they not as accepted as movies?

xHarvey5475d ago (Edited 5475d ago )

Well not by the media IMO. Remember how the media went berserk over the Mw2 mission that had you play as a "terrorist"

Edit: Not to mention Six Days in Fallujah

Edit#2: @ Chuck yeah, you're right it's part of the general culture but I think it can be much bigger. Video games have a lot of potential because you're in control of the story and the ending can be different depending how you go through it(heavy rain).I don't know if that's just me. I just hate how much heat video games take from the media, that's about it lol.

chuckfuxvi5475d ago (Edited 5475d ago )

well, just because the media doesn't like certain content in the material doesn't mean it isn't part of the general culture
Edit: I mean even movies are controversial because of their material, but that doesn't mean movies aren't accepted as a genre.

Mario Bros 3 made more money then Jurassic park, and Nintendo and pac-man had cereal 20+ years ago. This is old news imho. Jimmy fallon just jumped on the badwagon.

i am a little worried.... well really worried about this because people and especially kids and teens are more interested in video games, movies and internet and less on History.

Jimmy Fallons show sucks. he is a terrible host. TRY to watch it when hes not talking about gaming

D4RkNIKON5475d ago

I record it on my DVR and skip through till the parts I want to watch so I don't have to waste a whole hour.

Awookie5475d ago

Yea, and since when is Jimmy Fallon mainstream? hes on the same time as the Magic Bullet, Miracle Juicer etc which are way more entertaining than his show

ApocalypseShadow5475d ago (Edited 5475d ago )

it's big but not as big as it could be.we still have pitiful award shows that concentrate on celebrity idiots than the games themselves.the producers and directors aren't getting their recognition in the media.we have news media concentrating on the negative games than the positive games because that's not news to them.good news?oh h#ll no.

in america, gaming would have to be more like japan and anime.they accept it likes it's a huge part of their culture.they make live action movies, they make songs, they make food based on it.it's pretty much everywhere.they are even making real robots that look like what's in anime.

once it gets there and not just at late night with some half funny comedian, then it will be mainstream.

Donkey Kong Country Returns: A triumphant return indeed

As the first game to be released in the DKC series in 11 years, fans of Donkey Kong were eager to see how the iconic ape’s adventures continued. And when it was finally released, the game proved well worth the wait. With incredible level design, difficult yet fun platforming gameplay, vibrant presentation and an amazing soundtrack, “Donkey Kong Country Returns” is an amazing side-scrolling platformer and an incredible comeback for one of Nintendo’s oldest mascots.

Top Ten Donkey Kong Games

Phil writes, "A few weeks ago was the 40th anniversary of Nintendo's main monkey, Nintendo's awesome ape, Nintendo's super simian: Donkey Kong. This Tuesday 10s focuses on the best of the banana bunch in the Donkey Kong series, from main games to spin-offs! It's a banana slamma' of games, so let's get to it."

Tropical Freeze is way better than Country Returns and Dixie's whatever it's called. It's easily in top 3 DK games.

CosmicTurtle1425d ago

It did not place them in order, despite the article being described as a top ten.

Donkey Kong (94) is my preferred game on that list. I think the Rare Country games are pretty rough.

Metabeard1425d ago

My first reaction was... They made 10 Donkey Kong games?! Then I thought that must be every single one... then I checked the list and Donkey Kong 64 is not even on it. No wonder Nintendo won't make more 3D Donkey Kong. I really enjoyed tropical freeze but I am still waiting for the next 3D game. Its really the only thing I want from the series at this point. Also, I can't take Jungle beat seriously...

What Comes Next for Donkey Kong? Making the Ape a Priority!

KeenGamer: "What can Nintendo do to honor the anniversary of Donkey Kong Country Returns and what direction does the company go in with one of their oldest characters? Next month will mark a full decade since the iconic ape of the Big N's catalogue graced the Wii with brilliant side-scrolling and platforming action! A sequel followed in 2014, but the neglect for DK doesn’t sit well with many gamers in 2020."
