E3 2010 Dead Space 2 preview at Examiner.com

Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer for Visceral Games, took us through a tour and some gameplay of their upcoming 3rd-person horror-action game Dead Space 2.

Based upon what we saw at E3, it looks like Dead Space 2 will hold up to its predecessor very well. While it doesn't appear to deviate much from the original's overall formula, it still brings a few new Necromorphs, tricks, and game mechanics to the table, and an ample supply of tense, suspenseful gameplay.

Looks great so far. I hope its scarier than the first. That'll be tough to top though.

DJexs5078d ago

I will be happy with just as scary. I no longer trust a "dead" body in any game lol.....or fans/vents

Darkfiber5078d ago

Didn't really like what I saw with the church and stuff, looked kinda cheesy, and the boss looked exactly like the tentacle boss things from the first, but I'm sure there's a lot more to it and I'm sure it will be good. Hopefully it'll be bigger and more open since you're in a huge city this time.

I'm hoping for Move support on this game.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai4d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga4d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole1d 14h ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville2d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_4d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville2d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM4d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka3d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz4d ago (Edited 4d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_4d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Well, anything to make those shareholders happy, I guess. They're all that matters in this industry nowadays.

EA stocks haven't been profitable in over 5yrs. They better hope Take-two don't get the FIFA license lol.

EA Shoots Down Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors: 'No Validity to This Story'

EA has shut down rumors that EA Motive considered a Dead Space 2 remake before shelving it due to low sales of the previous game, saying there's "no validity" to the reports.

XiNatsuDragnel36d ago

Sure.... right.... at least remake dead space 3 w/o microtransactions bs.

XiNatsuDragnel35d ago

I sometimes I wished I didn't Ngl lol

Knightofelemia35d ago

Why not remake DS2 whether shot down or not it's still my favorite game next to DS1. As much as I hate EA I would buy or would have bought DS2 day one.

MeteorPanda35d ago

No validity XD "Guys guys, we cant possible make a good game or cater to the gamers wants, stop"

Yi-Long35d ago

I don't know if sales met their expectations or not. I just know that the high review scores received my attention so I was interested in buying it, but its price stayed high (50+ bucks) for so long that I simply never bothered picking it up.

Tacoboto35d ago

Doesn't pay full price
Doesn't pay *any* price
Ponders if sales met expectations regarding an allegedly canceled sequel.

Gee...

Yi-Long34d ago

Well, for starters, I'm sure there are plenty of games I never bought which did, somehow, still, meet their sales-expectations.

Concerning Dead Space; I never played and thus cared for the original. It's in multiple genres (shooter, sci-fi, horror) I don't particularly care about so it was barely on my radar pre-launch. I was never its target-audience.

When reviews hit, and it was scoring big, it gathered my interest, so while it wasn't in my field of interest, it mrans that I wanted to give it a fair shot and at least give it a try, as I do with many games across different genres; I tend to just cherry-pick the good stuff and see if it's for me or not.

But, I do wait for sales on those games I take a risk on.

Kornholic34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Lol, you are a huge part of the problem. If a very high-quality game is not even worth 50 bucks to you, then what is?
