They are my favorite too. Their dedication to excellence and to always get better is great for us gamers. Another dev I didn't see on there that should be there is Criterion Games. Their dedication to the Burnout Paradise community was second to none. I doubt we'll ever see that kind of generosity from a developer again.

I think he was referring to console fps. Some people seem to forget that console fps never really got mainstream until Halo.

I know what Goldeneye is to the fps genre on the consoles, it is the grand daddy, I just think Halo had a bigger impact then Goldeneye when it comes to mainstream success. This is my opinion.

that rockstar is more than one development studio? rockstar north did not make all those games.

yes, people realize that. While you are at it, you might as well clarify Sega, Nintendo, Square, Valve, Konami, Atlus.

Technically Team Ico, Blizzard, Naughty dog, and Santa Monica Studios are the only actual single studios, as in, in the same building studios, the rest pretty much publishers, although they so have some in house products.

@ below, yes they are, but games like Counterstrike, and portal for example where started as mods, which they picked the people up and made the game with them, I guess that is why I didnt put them in that category, also since steam is pretty much a new publishing house in a way for many games that don't have publishers.

Yeah, but they're more of a distributer, like GameStop. Everything with the Valve name comes out of the same building (with the exception of Coutner Strike: Condition Zero, and the original Coutner Strike Xbox port which were made by Turtle Rock.

Kojima Productions wasn't founded till 2005 or after the release of MGS3 so, the majority of the games were released strictly under the Konami name. They technically only have 5 or so games to their name, including the iOS games.

But I am pretty sure a couple of those companies just published, not developed the games they are getting credit for. For example, Konami is getting credit for the Metal Gear Solid series instead of Kojima productions.

Wow, this is a terrible list. You pretty much just named every big developer you could think of, and some weird ones like Clover? just cause they made one game you thought was good. I think Ico is the only one who should be on this, possibly Blizzard, and for every reason BUT World of Warcraft. The only reason anyone plays that game is because everyone plays that game. They only play because the servers are always full, thus making the game more interesting and "fun" in their eyes, which gives Blizzard more money to make more updates. The game itself isn't "good" per se, so much as there's lots to do to distract fat lonely bored housewives from the midwest from how miserable and sh*tty their real lives are. Most of the people who play WoW aren't gamers to begin with. I'm sure the majority of them have never and will never play another game in their lives. They only play it because it's always in the spotlight. People are sheep, and WoW is their shepherd.

Speaking of Shepard, Bioware should be on there as well. Everyone on that list as either made only one game that people actually care about, or they've made far too many bad games to be considered a top developer.

There are very, VERY few developers who have consistently made good game after good game with no crap in between.

Up until they went multiplat they released a new game every year. And they were all stellar. Also glad they keep Ratchet coming, Unlike Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch who have yet to make an HD Sly and Jak =( . Oh well, Heroes on the Move will suffice.

No doubt about that.Bioware introduces new mechanics in games and others just copy paste that.And they have never failed to deliver.Other developers live on neverending franchise sequels but Bioware lives on new ips.
