Ever Peter Molyneux has admitted that they haven't delivered on some of the features and promised he made about Fable 2 and Fable 3.

Arnon5081d ago

Care to name features they haven't made their promises on with Fable 3?

SOAD5080d ago (Edited 5080d ago )

I thought they said something about Kinect being involved with Fable 3. So, if that's true, then that's one thing they haven't kept their promise for.

Edit: although, Peter doesn't really promise much. He just mentions ideas and if they work he'll use them and if they don't, they will be dropped.

Godmars2905080d ago

More like he offers tons of ideas as features, something he shouldn't be doing during interviews, which eventually end up being left out for whatever reason. Like character's "dieing" and either still being beaten on or recovering elsewhere and having the bruising mark the character for the rest of the game. That was one of Fable 2's "promises" that didn't wind up in the fianl version.

The man just needs someone more sensible from Lionhead to keep him in line during interviews. Someone will to sit on his chest to shut him up if need be.

ThanatosDMC5080d ago (Edited 5080d ago )

The scarring was also promised on Fable 1 actually.

I hope they make B&W3 and make more like the first rather than the second. First one was awesome eventhough there were a ton of bugs but the second one was terrible and has a lot of bugs.

Arnon5080d ago

Scarring was a feature in Fable 1 as well as Fable 2. If you didn't heal after a certain period of time, your wounds would turn into scars... I know, my dude was ugly as sin because of them.

ryuzu5080d ago

That's been Molyneux's style since Populous was a hit - he talks up the revolutionary aspects of every game he's involved with, only to have the game be distinctly less than revolutionary.

Despite Molyneux's "over zealous marketing" let's say, I still think it's good to have a few industry guys who aim high - I'm assuming of course, that Molyneux is only guilty of aiming high rather than deliberate misinformation as some people think of him.

r.

Pika-pie5080d ago

I can remember in an inverview late last year he talked about in Fable 3 you will be able to just sit on your thrown all day. Including in multiplayer mode.. And you can summon your friends to your thrown room and have them tossed in jail.

I would put money on this not reaching he final game... I could just see it now.. 'Oh look, Ive just been tossed in jail..- Followed by disconnect'

Tony P5080d ago

"I thought they said something about Kinect being involved with Fable 3. So, if that's true, then that's one thing they haven't kept their promise for."

I believe he said something closer to "touch will play an important role" and the media made the leap to Natal/Kinect integration.

Not that I believe Lionhead will keep all their promises. They never do. But the games are still good regardless.

Because Peter is a great guy and is always trying to do new things. They just haven't been able to pan out though.

Bobbykotickrulesz5080d ago

Yeah he does seem like a good guy.

What it looks like to me is, he gets so excited, like a kid telling a story, that he adds details that may or may not be true. He has a great imagination and he struggles to keep it all contained into a realistic point of view.

beans5081d ago

Good news indeed even if it's not 100 percent correct. Fable 3 looks gorgeous from the footage I saw at E3. WOW

cmacdonald5080d ago (Edited 5080d ago )

It looks like Fable 2, and that wasn't gorgeous. Art style was nice though.

chrisjc5081d ago

I could list promised Fable 1-2 additions all day that were never to be found in the game

-The ability to kill a man in Fable 1, and have his child grow up to hunt you down
-The ability to slice a blade of grass, and have it grow back months later when you visit the same area
-The ability to train your left and right biceps independently in Fable II
-Fable 1 was supposed to be open world - Molyneux said this in an interview with Gamespot

How will Fable III disappoint us next?

ThanatosDMC5080d ago

We'll just have to wait for him to talk and whatever he'll tell us about the game we probably shouldnt expect.

tiamat55081d ago

Peter Molyneux can't be that good a guy. He seems like a blow hard, a liar and an exaggerator to me. He will say anything to get his game to sell. Before he said that Kinect would be intergrated into Fable 3,but now we find out it will have nothing to do with it at all. And then he acts all nice saying 'please enjoy my game' or 'i hope you enjoy my creation'. Then you play it and realise that its the same generic sword and shield type adventure game with pointless choices and life emulation stapled on. I am not the type to hate anyone but the guy is an annoying tool who just won't shut up

SOAD5080d ago

Don't judge a man based on that.

He said in an interview with Game Informer in 2004 that he was really excited about gaming - so excited that he would voice every single idea that came to him for the purpose of committing himself to making sure that idea made it into the game. However, as he said, his studio spends a lot of time trying to integrate those ideas into their game only to realize that they fundamentally do not work or take too much time to do.

With Molyneux I've learned not to expect for him to actually deliver on the countless ideas that he mentions. Notice he doesn't actually promise to do anything. He just says things like, "here's another idea that we've been tinkering with that you might see in our next game."

rkimoto5080d ago (Edited 5080d ago )

Unless you meet him personally and strike several personal conversations with him, or work for him, it seems that you're unfairly pre-judging him.

Yes, I'm all for personal opinions, but mostly if they're based on some kind of unbiased judgement or proof if otherwise.

Don't be a hater, be a gamer.

PS: If he under-delivered on his promises, that still doesn't make him a bad guy, not even a liar... He's not a politician or marketing guy, he's a very talented developer who just likes to brainstorm in his own interviews.

cmacdonald5080d ago (Edited 5080d ago )

That's a liar.

Fable II - A Fantasy Series at Peak Performance

Fable II launched back in 2008 and remains the best the series has offered. Ahead of the series comeback, it's time to look at the classic.

Crows90329d ago

They gotta bring back those gargoyles!

Dudeson329d ago

I'd love to play it again, this time on pc though. Forever waiting on that pc port.

GaboonViper329d ago

Loved this game, oh and i always saved my dog at the end, hope the new Fable has a animal companion.

got_dam329d ago

Fable 2 was the best inthe series. Peter waaaaaaay over promised with fable 1 and it was good but disappointing. He didn't go crazy eith hype for the second game and it was surprisingly awesome. Then he ran his mouth promoting 3 and it was the worst of the 3.

cthulhucultist329d ago

Funny story: Fable 3 had a funny way of keeping the promises you made in the first half of the game and having enough money to defeat the darkness.

You only had to collect enough money to buy 2 stores in a busy market district. You then raise the prices to maximum and you turn xbox 360 internal clock 99 or more years ahead.

The next time you load the game, all the rents from the 99 years are collected immediately.

But yes I agree that 3 was the weakest of the three.

Demetrius329d ago

I only got to play it once 😩 I'm so tempted to buy a Xbox 360 slim but planning on getting the series x soon since I got a PS5 in February Im ready to get saints row 1&2 back, GTA 4, fable 2, but I also want to play infamous 1&2 again Sony screwed us over with the stream only for saints row 2 and other gems smh

Fable: The Greatest Game Concept That Never Was

The Fable series is one of our favorite gaming franchises. Heres what we want from the rumoured sequel

ColdSin1407d ago (Edited 1407d ago )

Microsoft announced Fable Legends at Gamescom 2013, not E3 2013. I'd like for the new Fable to have the same artstyle as Fable Legends.

Zoned1406d ago

Thanks for that. I agree, definitely like the art style, but that's it. Nobody wanted Fable Legends!

moongrim1406d ago

How about Fable II Remastered for the pc please?!

RaveTears1406d ago

I would honestly buy the Xbox series S just for Fable 2 remastered or a remake.

moongrim1406d ago

I've never played it so I'm like dying over here.

Zoned1406d ago

Fable II was probably the best of the series. It had its flaws but overall was definitely a step in the right direction. Fable III was a huge misstep in comparison

RaidenBlack1406d ago

I was disgusted with Fable III

RaidenBlack1406d ago (Edited 1406d ago )

Yeah ... its an odd situation ain't it?
MS released Fable 1, Fable 3 and Fable 1 Remastred for PC.
Skipping the best one in the franchise.
Same goes for Gears: GoW, GoW Remastered, Gears 4 and Gears 5 are on PC.
And Halo: The entire Halo MCC and Halo Infinite will be on PC. But no Halo 5.

Zoned1405d ago

Definitely agree but you lost me with Halo 5. That was my least favourite Halo game (out of the Halo numbered titles)

RaidenBlack1405d ago

Yea, same here. Only liked the visuals of Halo 5 (that too on an One X, it doesn't look that good on the One S)

But what I meant was, MS is releasing every Halo game on PC from 1 to Infinite, except 5. Which is a bit odd.
Coz the free Halo 5-Forge was quite popular in PC community during its release.

porkChop1406d ago

I never got to play it because I sold my 360. It should have been remastered.

The only thing I can think of is if after the release of Fable Anniversary they decided to take the series in a different direction. They might not want the new game to be associated with the older ones.

sushimama1406d ago

Well lets hope Microsoft are going to announce a new Fable. The MS fans deserve a great Fable game. If it is announced and the gameplay looks cool, this might convince me to get, at least a Series S. It would be my very first Xbox console.

Zoned1406d ago

I would definitely buy an Xbox Series X if a 'proper' Fable sequel were to be revealed!

RgR1406d ago

You mean Fable fans.
Don't have to be an MS fan to want Fable but you definitely need to be a Fable fan to want a new Fable game.

RgR1406d ago

Kicking chickens! That was fun....hope modern society doesn't ruin it for a next installment.

chiefJohn1171406d ago (Edited 1406d ago )

Hell no Fable legends is NOT what we wanted.
Fable 2 is what we want outta Fable. Remake Fable 2 please.

5 Sequels We Would Love To See On Project Scarlett

Sam Smith writes: "While we hope to see lots of fresh and exciting new IPs on Project Scarlett, here are 5 sequels to established Xbox franchises we’d very much like to see."

This has to be one of the lamest lists I have seen for wishing for sequels.

Perfect Dark should be on the top of this list and it's amazing that MS hasn't even attempted to try and bring this amazing franchise back.

Charlie Murder, MS should pay and get Ska Studios to make a sequel to this excellent beat 'em up game. IMO, they should have been the ones to make Battletoads

Lost Odyssey, another no brainer and should be right up there with the whole Gears/Halo/Forza chant. And while we are talking about JRPGS...

Magna Carta, I loved the art style for this game. MS should definitely try and get a sequel to this for their new syste,

Bomberman Live, really one of the best in the series and I loved how it was simple and just focused on MP. Being able to customize your Bomberman was fun and I would love to see this make a return to Live.
