Graphics: Nintendo 3DS vs. PSP

Matter of fact I just bout Mega Man Zero collection, MGS PW Collectors, Trauma Team, Alan Wake (Finally), Disgaea Infinite and SMT Strange Journey this last Friday.

E3 was awesome, Nintendo did a outstanding job, and Sony proved the haters wrong about their motion venture.

you do know that it is not gameplay you are watching but a rendered scene powered by the 3DS, the actual game would take a lot more processing power to give than kind of graphics in gameplay.

I agree the hardware is meant to be like wii in 3D and without 3D can reach PS3,Nintendo like all the big 3 dont offer all the power right from the off more power gets introduced through SDK's but so far ive seen a metal gear solid that in motion looks wii/ps3

all im saying is that the trickle of good core games from nintendo wasnt enough for me to keep my wii. over the period of a year and half of ownership of both a wii and my ps3 i bought 4 wii games, 4! and 15 ps3 games! granted games like new super mario and mario galaxy 2 make me almost regret selling my wii, but not quite.

dont forget the fact that it has to render everything twice, so even if the graphics were the same (and what we are seeing right now is most likely for games that have 6 months+ before they are out) its still means its twice as powerful than the psp. Though im impressed people think nintendo is still gonna choose the ULTRA HARDWARE-ULTRA EXPENSIVE way.

Thats what i am waiting to see. From the pics so far it looks like the 3DS is punping out better visuals and its in 3D.
Impressive to say the least but more impressive is the fact you dont need glasses.
Just a little look into the very very very near future with upcoming TV;s for 3D.
I beleive some people buying these $3000 3D HDTV's right now might be vey pissed in 1-2 years when Samsung, SOny and Sharp and Panasonic start to release HDTV's that do not require glasses. If a handheld can do it. You damn well know these TV's will very very soon

It wont 1-2 years the problem at the momment is viewing angles is terrible with a handheld console like this Its not really problem but when your talking about going to 32'' 42'' ect if your not sitting so near and so straight at the tv its blurry no qustion it will happen just not for a while yet.

and who thinks this will nintendos most expensive handheld the screen alone must cost a foutune.

That res seems low nowadays the iphone 4 has a 900x480 screen...

The 3ds has way lower vertical resolution than the psp and the screen inst wider.
I don't know about it... PSP is pretty old anyways.

3DS is better though, of course because it's 3D, which requires more processing power. And I'm sure it could up the graphical quality of it's titles, rather significantly if it weren't outputing them in 3D, too.

Sony will need to release another handheld soon if they want to keep selling units. The games coming up for the PSP right now are really great, but a next gen PSP doesn't mean development has to stop for current, or that the games can't also be played and sold to next gen psp owners.

The PS is oe fantastic handheld but it just cant compete with this handheld.

There's too many PSP's on the market already...makes no sense to flood the market with PSP's especially since they've already invested in PSPGO, and regardless of Nintendo coming out with 3DS.

Why are the PSP screens, in this comparison, smaller?

The PSP has both a higher rez screen (480x272) than the 3DS main screen, if its 400x240, and its physically larger as well, even on the smaller PSP Go (3.8" as opposed to 3.5").

Ridge Racer looks much better on the PSP than the 3DS. MGS3 looks all jagged up and blocky whereas on the PSP MGS:PW looks very smooth.

Im happy they didnt make the shots fullscreen, portable games look horrible when enlarged.

They both look good, 3DS has a graphical advantage... until the PSP2 is announced.

Well, they look even right now. BUT launch titles never show what a system is capable of. The 3DS will definitely look better than the PSP in time, but by then the PSP2 will come out. We're never going to be able to get a really good comparison of the two companies portables

It's very close, though I'm leaning toward the PSP (GoW: GoS). Sometimes, the PSP clearly has better graphics; sometimes, the 3DS has blatantly better graphics. The real selling point of the 3DS is its 3D abilities.
