Dead Space 2 'scarier than the first'

I don't know about you guys, but I was never scared by playing Dead Space. And I'm not the type of a guy that purposely goes to watch scary movies because I'm terrified by them, but I got Dead Space (First Week) and beat it. I never felt scared, or got scared, (except the end cutscene) and most of the time it was just suspense.

So I do hope that this game amps up the scare factor.

i didn't think it was scary at all. or even entertaining. after the first 2 times something jumped out at me, i was over it. and it wasn't scary then..it just really really startled me...i mean...i was startled. maybe more startled than i had ever been. REALLY startled. but then i shot the bitch in its leg and realized that was the whole game (minus the unnecessary use of the gravity gun to open doors and whatever).

it's also really graphically lame. and the new game looks just as last gen as the first one.

to say the 2nd one is scarier doesn't really mean much. if i'm scared for longer than 25 seconds into the gameplay, then i'll have to agree with the title.

Best horror game this gen. Forget RE5 and Silent Hill. Dead Space is where its at. I think it was third place for my games of 2008.

Me too! The 1st game gave me a mini heartattack, especially when I tried rushing to the elevators due to no ammo.

The thing that scared me the most in deadspace was enemies that just don't die... yep those that played it will know which one im talking about. I hate stuff like that... scares the hell outta me cos i can't blast the crap outta it!

I remember the werewolf in vampire masquerade as well... urgh...

Anyhow if deadspace 2 is scarier thats a bonus.

Im glad for the change of heart, the best survival horror game of this gen may get a lil bit better.

Edit: Although DS1 wasnt super scary to me, the end when you think its over...........ROAR!!!!!!!!!!!

In case you haven't seen it, here is the first dead space 2 gameplay trailer. I'm sooo glad that you can now actually float during the zero gravity parts of the game, it was the only area of the first game that kinda sucked IMO. anyway check it out it looks awesome.

The first Dead Space barely sold a million copies across three different platforms (360, PS3, PC).

It must be very disappointing for a developer to work hard to create a game of such high quality and spent so much money on development only to get back 1 million copies on three platforms. They probably didn't make any money on that game.

So, if they were thinking of changing the formula to make it match a game that sold 5 million copies, then I wouldn't blame them.

I loved Dead Space for what it was. Sure I would have loved for there to be more unique ways of scaring me and more intense moments, and more disturbing stuff like the guy who was bashing his head against a wall, but I loved DS for what it was.

But Visceral and EA want to make more dough than last time so of course they are going to change the game a little.

Sweet! Dead Space was the most atmospheric game I've played since Resident Evil: Code Veronica on Dreamcast! It was really disturbing, and I loved every single terrifying minute spent on it. If the second one were to be just as scary it would already be a Must Buy to me, but to read it will be even scarier and that we still have like five months or more of waiting? Thats mean, sir...! Thats torture!
Should I had any complaints about the first game, though, it would be about it’s poor narrative – which I hope it gets better this time.

It was predictable, I say what really got me a bit shook at first was that respawning Necromorphs.
