Joe Danger could appear on other formats

Joe Danger developer Hello Games has said that it may consider porting its PlayStation 3 title to other formats, including Xbox 360, but it would have been humanly impossible to get the game out on multiple platforms initially.

Doesn't Sony pay the cost of development for PSN games if they remain exclusive? If so that's a big incentive.

Honestly either way I don't care, if it stays exclusive less people can play it, but I own a PS3 and 360 and to be honest this game looks like a must buy.

They announced it as PC and PSN first then maybe other platforms later. I have a feeling it will be coming out on the 360 soon because it looks like they are using the 360 controller when they demo the PC version so it shouldn't be that difficult to port it over.

http://www.edge-online.com/... Good read about Hello games deciding witch platform to do first

Considering the praise the game is receiving thus far, it's probably smarter for them to port the game to the PC/360, even if Sony pays for the development costs.

Then they will have to reimburse Sony for a good deal of money. IF, and I say IF Sony paid for dev costs then the contract normally reads should the devs want to port the IP they retained to to non-Sony platforms then they have to reimburse development costs AND a penalty. This isn't always the situation but it is often the case.

If Sony did not pay development costs then they can simply do as they please.

Let's assume that a company knows what it's doing. If they estimate that a reimbursement will be outweighed by revenue on 360, PC, or even Wii (gasp!), then they'll do it. No hard feelings; they just want to survive and grow like any other company.

If there isn't a reimbursement, just porting costs, then they'll probably wait for sales figures to come out, make their case to stakeholders, budget out the new cash, and go right ahead. Looking at the reviews, I don't think they'll have a problem selling this game.

If you read between the lines in these quotes ("We're kind of free agents after this," etc.), they're saying that the only thing holding them back is staff time, whether that means just timing or that they have the desire to hire more people than just the first 4 guys. They're probably not constrained by a giant funding contract with Sony.

Can't wait to check this out on PSN!

It will probably be ported but it's ours right now. Unless Sony buys them like they did Media Molecule

raztad5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

I dont see the value of buying that company. Joe Danger doesnt look like THE property to own or something that will spawn a genre like LBP.

lucifon5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

The first trailer they ever showed of the game showed Xbox buttons for literally a split second on most points of the trailer. Kind of an odd one but if you go through the trailer frame by frame you'll see exactly what I mean. Theres 360 pad control prompts which then change to PS3 ones. No doubt the game started out as an XBLA title early on I'd imagine so this was a given to anyone observant.

peeps5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

i was intrigued lol so watched the trailer myself but couldn't see them, then i watched the trailer playing and pausing quickly, and indeed you can see 360 buttons lol really odd tbh

heres a screenshot for those interested:

But yeh as mentioned by many, it is likely we will see a port eventually but being a small company could only feasibly work on a single version at first.

Ri0tSquad5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

They tried to cover it up on the PS blog by saying it was a PC error, but I didn't believe that for a second. Nonetheless, the game looks good.

mantisimo5486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

Honestly? WOW! Have you really nothing better to do?

NYPunk885486d ago (Edited 5486d ago )

@lucifon

So they started working on the Xbox version first but gave up on the platform in favor of the PS3? Is that what you're saying? Could this be a trend?

Development started on the PS3 first and a rough build for the Xbox was started later. You can confirm this info from the dev's blog.

They had to choose one platform because they are only a four man team. They chose to release on the PSN first. It's similar to the Castle Crashers situation. They can only do so much at one time. I'm sure it will be on XBLA sometime in the future.

What an amazing story, Joe Danger was a fantastic game and hearing about these kinds of stories makes me much happier than hearing adults bicker back and forth about which animations a game is re-using and the amount of pixels on the screen.

This is what gaming is really about and I feel like some people just tend to forget that
